ok, so in the end I turned off the onboard BT and added a BT dongle... no more stuttering... I would like to add that the speakers are about 8m from PCP. With v6, it worked fine most of the times, had a few hiccups but not stuttering. Ok, it works. I noticed that now the tab Squeezelite Settings/Audio Output Device Settings looks overridden by the BT manu. The result is that now my LMS sees TWO players.. one has the speaker's name, the other the name I had chosen for the player. I can drive both speakers with one Raspi, which is nice, however I have to give up the flexibility of having two players and decide if I want them both on, or only one (or play different music). Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 5.0.0
Hello All, I have two identical sets of Raspberry, running PCP, and connecting each with identical USB BT dongle to identical BT speakers. I had the bad idea to move one from v4.0 to v5.0, and now that one doesn't work anymore (BT Connect Daemon is not running). I did it all over once more (prepare SD, resize FS, setup wifi, install BT), but no, it doesn't work. Am I missing something? I would like to try some new idea before I revert to v4.0... [SlimDevices: Unix] Squeezelite CPU at 87% while converting CBR->FLAC
Hello All, I am listening to Spotty, and noticed that Squeezelite is hogging the CPU at 87%, steady, converting a 705kbps CBR to FLAC. I wonder if it has to be so. I use this entry level two core server for printing pictures on fine art paper, and I had some crashes lately, after an Nvidia update, wasting expensive inks and sheets. Because the print is quite a slow process, I thought I'd install SqueezeLite, to enjoy some music waiting for the print to come out. I had some trouble to make it up and running, and I thought it was an Nvidia driver problem conflicting with an USB sound card, however, now it seems to work fine. So I am starting to think that it might be a CPU problem. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] multiple ffmpeg instances
Castalla, here is it. My LMS is based on Ubuntu 12.04 server, 64bit. You can find the ppa at: https://launchpad.net/~jon-severinsson/+archive/ubuntu/ffmpeg First, read About Installing. This requires you to enter the command: $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jon-severinsson/ffmpeg If the command add-apt-repository returns a not found error, you have to: $ sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install python-software-properties Repeat the add-apt-repository line. Then you click on Technical Details On This PPA, and select your flavor of Ubuntu, in my case, Precise. You have to copy and paste the two lines you obtained: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/jon-severinsson/ffmpeg/ubuntu precise main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/jon-severinsson/ffmpeg/ubuntu precise main into the file sources.list, file that you can open with the nano editor and the following command: $ sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list Go to the bottom, and paste it with Shift-Ctrl-V Save with Ctrl-X, Yes Proceed with the system update: $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get upgrade $ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Now restart the box with: $ sudo shutdown -r now I hope I did not forget anything, and everything's correct. ok, somehow I made it... While lsusb did not show the Arcam rDAC, aplay -l listed it as A20, not A10. So I edited the setting and restarted Squeezelite: now the player appeared on the LMS player list. At the moment I am listening to BBC Radio 3, and everything seems fine. Beethoven's 9th is on the air, just in time for An die Freude: how appropriate. Maybe the Raspy USB quirks have something to do with these troubles. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCoPlayer = Squeezelite on Microcore linux. .An embedded OS in RAM with Squeezelite
Hello All, sorry if I crosspost, but I realized that this was the place to post when I had already started a new thread which I am not able to delete. So, I burned a fresh image to an SD card, booted the Raspy with an Arcam rPac USB DAC connected. Everything looked fine, I was able to see the player both on the LMS page and its own web interface. Sound was working properly so the DAC passed the test. Then I added an USB dongle, connected to my wifi access point, verified all ok, I power off the Raspy to move it at my stereo location. When it rebooted, now on wifi only, it did not come up on the LMS page, however, the network connection was fine, merrily pinging all my hosts, and replying to pings from LMS. I tried forcing the server address and the dongle MAC address in the settings, but no way, LMS cannot see it. To double check I did it all over, and verified thatit works from the freshly made SD card, and stops working when wifi is installed. Any idea? town: Musical Fidelity Dr.Thomas, Preamp II, Infinity 7K, Squeezebox Classic (2), Squeezebox Radio, Ubuntu 12.4 LTS server country: Musical Fidelity A-5, Infinity Renaissance 90, Musical Fidelity A120, Sonus Faber Concertino, Squeezebox Classic (2), SB Touch, Ubuntu 12.4 LTS server gian's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6702 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97803 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
[SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer with wifi
hello All, I built a piCorePlayer from scratch, and the setup was made on eth0, via web interface, output with USB DAC from Arcam. All was fine, player showing in LMS page, very good sound on earplugs. I added wifi, set it up, looked ok so I powered off to move it to the final location. Connected everything, booted the little thing, wifi is the only network and is ok, it shows the pCP page... but NO player on LMS. I tried adding the server ip and wifi MAC address, rebooting, but no way. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer with wifi
Did everything from scratch... Burned SD card, the player shows up on the LMS page, as soon as I add wifi settings, it vanishes even with eth0 connected. Setting wifi off doesn't cure, neither removing the usb radio.
