Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20
Hi Guys, I am still using PCP 3.2 and have recently ran out of disc space on my attached usb drive. Rather than buying another drive I figured I should learn how to share a folder on my always on Windows 10 pc that still has plenty of drive space. I have set up a shared folder that I can see and add files to from my Mac but I cannot seem to get the folder to mount with PCP. I get as far as being able to see it as mnt point in LMS but when I browse the location it does not show any music files. As a result a rescan shows nothing from the shared file. Would someone please take a look at the screenshots and let me know what I am doing wrong? I have input my username and password but did not include them in this post for obvious reasons. Any help is appreciated... +---+ |Filename: Screen Shot 2018-08-09 at 10.56.37 AM.png| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=25422| +---+ usc95's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107352 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Network discovery is absolutely crazy in Win 10. Sometimes it doesn't show anything, then days later everything shows no problem! Try this, right-click the windows logo bottom left of PC screen, select "Run", type in "\\192.168.1.178" (without quotes, and replace with IP address of your Pi). You will be prompted to enter your username = "tc", and password = whatever you set in Samba. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20
I'm in the process of moving my LMS server from my HPMicroServer to a Pi3 running 3.22 but I've ran in to 2 problems. 1. I cannot get the correct USB mount point. On my USB drive I have a FLAC folder in the root directory but I also have other folders in the root directory which contain the same music in mp3_128kbps and mp3_320kbps format. When I set LMS off to scan for music it finds all 3 directories rather than just the FLAC directory that I want it to search. Here are screenshots of what I have set on PCP and LMS: 24865 24866 2. I cannot see the USB drive on my windows10 box. I have network discovery enabled in the Win10 box. I can connect from Chrome on the Win10 PC to LMS running on the Pi. I have set a password. Here's how I have set up Samba: 24867 And here's what it says when click on 'Set Samba' 24868 Anyone able to help? I would greatly appreciate advice on how to get iperf running on the picoreplayer + pi3. I've managed to do it on my vortexbox server, but I'm not skilled enough to get it to work on the pi. Windows will only read the fat partition on the sd card and not the linux partition, that's is why it gives the format message. I am up and running! Thank you particularly for the link for the SD formatter as Windows was giving me error messages and not allowing me to format "normally." And thanks to both of you for steering me to an SD card problem rather than a networking one. Solution (imo): When I burned the image to the SD card (G: drive, for me), after it completed successfully I got a pop-up that informed me that Drive H could not be used successfully unless it was formatted, so I hit "OK". This apparently created a small USB drive partition on the SD card which was totally unexpected. The third time I burned an image I removed the SD card without hitting OK to format the H: drive. I guess that was idiosyncratic to my machine or something. Sorry, I did not check to see if there is now a USB H: drive partition on the successful image. If it could be useful to know for future trouble-shooting I could do that if anyone wants. If the creation of an extra drive on the SD card is an expected occurrence, a notation should probably be added somewhere. Thanks again! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20
I need a bit of troubleshooting help. If this is not the right spot for that, please point me to it. I just got a Rpi 3B and hifiberry DAC+ pro. Imaged pCP 3.22 on a microSD card (after formatting FAT32) and fired it up. The pCP has not appeared on my LMS. My router (Asus AC86) recognized the pCP and assigned it a DHCP address. When I load that address in my browser, I get an error message that it refuses to connect. My network is very simple--no VMs, proxies, etc. I am guessing this is some sort of networking problem, but I am stumped. Any suggestions? If so, please keep in mind that I have a very rudimentary understanding of networking. I have a Boom, a Duet with two receivers. They all continue to function normally. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20
Hi guys I recently installed PCP on a pi zero w with a hifiberry dac+ pro hat. The DAC feeds a powered speaker. LMS is running on a pi2 that's hardwired into my router. I also enabled shairplay in PCP so my family can airplay into the speaker from their iphones. All of this working fine :D My one issue is that the volume when I use PCP/squeezelite is low compared to using speaker with airplay. And I have been playing with different software with this setup, and PCP is lower, the other software (volumio and some other stuff) was comparable to airplay. I can't find any settings that are off, I am using PCP for volume control. Can anyone think of something I should check? Also, thanks for this project. IT ROCKS!!! Take a look at this list for clues. https://sites.google.com/site/picoreplayer/home/List-of-USB-DACs And if you get a good setup, please feel free to list your settings. paul-'s Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58858 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107352 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20
Hi Paul I've been recommended to use it with my DAC. As"apparently" the RPI USB port is not the best in direct for audio. Same for my DAC (Chord Qute Ex) it seems that the Coax has better audio quality. At the moment, it does work but the sound quality is not as good as my Squeezebox Touch. :( sdiesel77's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64065 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107352 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Got my Picoreplayer back up and running now that sourceforge is back up. Made sure both Simple mixer controls were checked, didn't have the .80 checked before. For now left DSP filter at FIR setting, I'll see what the others do tomorrow. Also got alsa mixer installed, but haven't changed anything from the default flat settings. I think the Picoreplayer Pi 3 model B with hifiberry DAC+ Pro just might be a little more quiet (volume) than the receiver. I'm calling it good for now. Setting the password can be a little confusing. 1) Install Samba 2) Set server name, workgroup and shared name/directory 3) Make sure server is running 4) Set password. When you connect to the share, you will need to specify the username as "tc" with the password you just set. paul-'s Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58858 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107352 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20
Hi, Another plea of help I'm afraid :-( I've been running PCP V3.22 since it was released, and generally I've very happy. Certainly very stable. So very well done!! I have a Pi 2 B+ connected via ethernet, with fixed IP addr which has the LMS server running, as well as 3 Pi Zero Ws connected into it. My issue concerns Samba. I have it installed and am trying to set up a share and connect into it from a PC, to no avail. My config is as follows: Samba is running: Server Name: PIMUSIC Server WorkGroup: WORKGROUP Share Name: MUSIC Share Path: /mnt/USB/Music Create File Mode: 0664 The mounted USB stick is formatted NTFS, and the NTFS file system is installed, and I play from it fine. From my Linux PC (Linux Mint 17.3) I can see the server name, but it always times out if I try and connect to it. From a Windows PC (Windows 10) I can get a little further, in that I can see the share name, but that's it. This seems to be the case regardless of whether or not I have a password set-up. I also have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Samba without success. I'm sure that the share path is correct, as that is what's shown in the LMS settings pages, and also I can see this when I SSH into the Pi. I have also tried changing the share path to /, and get the same thing. I'm pretty sure that this just worked fine when I was using an older version of PCP (though I can't now remember the version number). Any help gratefully appreciated. Regards, Toonie. We are waiting to release the next version of piCorePlayer before we do any more code changes. Unfortunately the SourceForge issues prevents us from doing proper testing and releasing a new version. I learnt a valuable lesson last week about pressing on without a proper test environment.
