XenServer version supported by ACS 4.14

Hi

ACS website is not loading for me, I am trying to find what versions of
XenServer/XCP-NG are supported.

Thank you

VM's are slow

2020-05-22 Thread Luis Martinez

Hi Group

I have CS 4.13.1.0-1 running with the following hardware

1 Manager server with 4 cores and 8 in RAM

1 KVM server with 24 cores and 64G of RAM

1 FREENAS with 4 disks of 3T in Raid 1 with 12 G of RAM

I am able to download CentOS7 and create VM but it feels a little slow
with 6 cores and 8G of RAM but with windows it's worse, I created a VM
with 6 cores and 8 G of RAM and it's very slow and the % of use in the
VM is 45 as well as the network,  just checking if somebody had the same
problem and what could I check to fix this problem.

Thank you,

Luis Martinez.

Questions about your test environments.

2020-05-18 Thread Luis Martinez

Hi Group

I am curious about how you run your test environments in Shape Blue or
anybody in the group.

1.- Do you use hardware to install and configure your test environments
or do you use virtual machines and what do you use ?

2.- Do you run some performance test?

3.- Can you share a description of hardware you are using?

I use XCP-NG to create as many VMs I need to run my test then I move it
to bare metal as follows

-- 1 8 core xeon with 30G RAM where I run a VM for the manager

--1 8 core xeon with 16G RAM with FREENAS for primary and secondary

--1 24 cores XEON with 64 G RAM for the host, this is where the VM's run

Thank you,

Luis Martinez.

I've got a CloudStack 4.11.2 lab running on a single host & made the (dumb)
mistake of running OS updates without updating the system VMs beforehand. The
CloudStack packages upgraded to 4.11.3 just fine but now CloudStack management
services wont start (see below).

Here's my question:

 - Is it *at all* possible to rectify this (now, post package updates) by
getting the new system templates in via the CLI tools
(/usr/share/cloudstack-common/scripts/storage/secondary/cloud-install-sys-tmplt)?
 - The error on the logs *seems* simple, if management could find the new
template maybe things could proceed?

My impression is no given research I've done so far which seems to amount to:

 - roll back to 4.11.2
 - use the pre-upgrade dump of the DB (which I made)
 - start management services
 - get the new system VMs properly (like I should have in the first place)
 - upgrade to 4.11.3

Humbly (& slightly embarrassed) yours, and thanks,

Hi
I agree that the script should be granting the privileges but for some reason
is not happening. I have been installing CS more than 20 the las week and I
always have to do the granting privileges, just saying but maybe that past is
disabled in the script. I may be wrong.

Just adding to Luis' comments, granting privileges shouldn't be necessary,
the script should handle that for you. Please consider the steps in the

Re: Problem accessing /client/ - Service Unavailable

2020-05-08 Thread Luis Martinez

Sure,

this line contains the user and password for the user cloud, I also
changed the password for the user root

cloudstack-setup-databases cloud:Password1@localhost
--deploy-as=root:Password1

here are the instructions to change the password for root

1.- after installing mysql runs this (sudo mysql_secure_installation)
running this will ask you for root password, press (enter) because there
is no password at the moment then it will ask you if you want to change
the root password, press y (remember the password you are going to use)
and for the following questions press y

2.- service mysql restart
3.- mysql -u root -p (this line will allow you to connect to mysql and
it will ask you for root password )

4.- run the following lines

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'cloud'@'%';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'root'@'%';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
quit

5.- service mysql restart

6.- ready to run this line

cloudstack-setup-databases cloud:(any password you want to use, this
will be encrypted and saved in db.properties)@localhost
--deploy-as=root:*(here use the password for mysql root)*

*7.- run the rest of you process

I had the same problem and it may be because the user doesn't have the correct
privileges to the database. You have to login to the database and grant the
user access to the database.

Waiting didn't resolve the issue for me, unfortunately.

I've made some observations around the problem.

- The system vms console/storage repeatedly rebuild and never come

online.

- The system vm template is downloaded to secondary storage (per
instructions) yet does not show size in console.
- The dashboard shows secondary 0/0 KB, primary 192.50 kb/787 GB. I

don't

understand why there is yet a separate storage meter.
- This VXLAN deployment for some unknown reason now shows the VNI

range

on

all three networks (Management, Public & Guest) instead of just the

Guest

network.

I have similar observations. At the moment I have one of the VMs in a
*running* state but there's no connectivity, the other one is in
*starting*. I see two qemu processes on the hypervisor but virsh list
returns an empty list. I'm planning to connect to the VNC servers next

to

see what's going on.

Re: Secondary Storage

2020-05-04 Thread Luis Martinez
I had a similar problem, secondary storage not mounted by CS, I left the
CS running for a couple of hours and not I see the secondary storage
working, I am not sure if it has to download something before mounting it.

On 5/4/2020 3:27 PM, Mr Jazze wrote:

I've now tried 3 attempts to deploy CS with the following resources:

Management Server also hosting NFS shares (primary & secondary)
2 x KVM Hosts running Ubuntu 16.04
CloudStack 4.13.1

VXLAN Isolation

I cannot get the console to show/recognize the secondary NFS storage which
seems to be preventing the build/starting of systemvms (console proxy &
storage).

Can I get someone to detail exactly the steps to properly setup storage?

Please don't reference the CS online documentation as I've walked through
those instructions and find much to be lacking.

Help Installing CS 4.13

2020-04-24 Thread Luis Martinez

Hi

When installing CS4.13 I get an error that the Database can't be
updated, reading in google I found that is because is trying to upgrade
from 4.11 to 4.13, not sure why this is happening, is there a way to do
a clean install without upgrade?

Thank you.

I don’t think you need this line at least:

Switchport mode access

I assume that you use the LACP bond that bonds interfaces:  Gi0/11 and Gi0/12
to carry both public traffic as well as guest traffic.

The next factor is the  traffic labels you set in your  Cloudstack advanced
zone setup .

Another factor is the  configuration of  cloudbro and Cloudbr1  bridges  in
your interface configurations.

By the way  are you using  CentOS or Ubuntu or Suse or ..?

Yes, selection of interfaces/ports need to be done. Please add command
“interface range Gi0/9 – 10” after command “conf t”
Also add “no switchport mode access” just before the command “end”

Hope that helps.

“interface range Gi0/9 – 10” after command “conf t”
Also add “no switchport mode access” just before the command “end”

Hope that helps.

I have configured Cisco 3750G switch for my CloudStack advanced mode setup.
Configuration should be the similar for Cisco 3560 as well, probably might help

Hi

I am testing my CS with Advance Networking but it's not able to download iso or

can't ping to internet, I did set up this parameter
(secstorage.allowed.internal.sites) to my manager and host ip.
This is my VLAN configuration, please any advice on this issue

Hi Luis,

You can give CloudStack a range of RFC1918 addresses (ie private addresses) to
act as an 'internal' public network.

10.0.1.10 - 10.0.1.30
GW: 10.0.1.254
Netmask - 255.255.255.0

If the gateway at 10.0.1.254 can route to the outside world then CloudStack
will still be able to download templates, if not you can always register a
template which you are hosting on an internal network.

If you do the second option ensure that the global setting
'secstorage.allowed.internal.sites'  includes the hosting server's IP address.

Hi Luis,

4.10 release does not support XenServer 7.2.  You will have to downgrade to 7.0.
Good luck!

Question about Advance networking configuration

2017-08-28 Thread Luis
Hi
I am configuring an advance networking and thanks to Simon Weller and Daniel
Herrmann to clarify the VLAN configuration, after configuring the VLAN
correctly I created a VM, this starts correctly but when I try to see the
console I get an error that can't be displayed, this is what I am using, i am
connected to my manager server using 10.0.0.0 and the browser can't display the
console on the public ip 209.229.131.11,
Some of my questions are, why is trying to use an ip from the public range and
not one from the internal ip's?Can I block users from acquiring public ip and
let the admin to assign the ip to the client? On my XenServer I have the VM I
created and 5 more, is this correct?

management :10.0.0.0public: 209.229.131.0
thank you for your help.

Hi,

we want to give KVM a change in our CS installation. Can somebody provide
his/her experience?
- Which version of KVM are you using?
- What host OS are you running KVM on?
- What do you tweak on your KVM installations?

Thank you very much for sharing this information!

Re: CloudStack with advance networking

2017-07-25 Thread Luis
Thank you for your replay
I have a zone running but the Vlan's were not communicating I don't know if
they need an special configuration or just create the VLAN, then I created a
new installation with no vlans but secondary storage is not mounted it looks
like is not communicating with gateway, I am trying to do an advance zone
configuration but I am using internal IPs for public traffic, this is for a
laboratory, do you know how I should create the VLNAN's? I am using a Cisco 3560
Public IP's: 209.229.131.0/24Internal IP's:10.0.0.0/24
but the gateway for the public traffic is not working.

I looked over the guide - for current version - this guide is overly
complex - it was also written 4 years ago.

As of 4.3+, all of the things you need can be handled in the UI.

It should take about 10 minutes to get the zone up - assuming you have
your environment properly configured.

I will make a refreshed simplified version of this tutorial when time
allows.

Re: Help with CS

2016-12-23 Thread Luis

Hi
Thank you Boris
I am Luis Martinez I am a software engineer, I use to be a Java Developer and a
Linux follower.
I have CloudStack with a Basic installation and now I want to create and
Advance Networking installation, I want to use XenSever with CS I have 4 server.
My problem is that I don't know how many VLANs I have to use and create on the
Switch and the IP's I should be using for every one of them, this is what I
think, I am planing to use LACP linking two nics for the storage and the other
two on LACP share it with Management, Guest and Public, I don't know if this is
ok, is it possible for you to give me an example of an advance networking
installation please.
4 VlansVlan 2 for Storage with an ip segment of 172.16.0.0 with LACP of two
nicsVlan 3 for Public IP's, ISP should provide these with LACP with two nics
shared with Management and Guest (Is this ok?)Vlan 4 for Management with ip
segment of 10.0.0.0 with LACP with two nics shared with Public and Guest (Is
this ok?)Vlan 5 for Guest with ip segoment of 192.168.1.0 with LACP with two
nics shared with Management and Public (Is this ok?)
On the Cisco switch should I create a Vlan with IP and Etherchannel? I am going
to use LACP with two nics
2 servers with these specs2 Xeon CPU wiht 8 cores earch one, 4 nics, 68GB (XEN
SERVER)1 Xeon CPU with 4 cores  40 GB of ram and 10 TB of space (STORAGE)1 Xeon
CPU with 4 cores and 32 GB of Ram (CS MANAGER)
1 cisco 3560 with 48 ports

I thinks this is all I have
 Thank you for your help.

Question about configuring and advance Installation

2016-12-16 Thread Luis
Hi
I am setting up and advance Installation of CloudStack and I wonder if some of
you can guide me with this or any advice.
This is a configuration for Cloudstack with XenServer
Cisco switch 35601 server or VM's 4 nics, bounded in pairs LACP1 server for CS
Manager 2 nics1 server for Storage 4 nics, bounded in pars LACP
I am planing to use 4 VLANS
Public Vlan: ISP ip'sStorage Vlan:172.16.0.0 Management Vlan: 10.0.0.0Guest
Vlan: 192.168.0.0
Server running VM's: nic 1: communicating with storage, nic2: communicating
with CSManagerCS Manager: nic1: communicating with storage, nic2: to access
CSManagerStorage Server: nic1: for storage communication, nic2: communicating
with CSManager.
Is this approach correct or not?
Thank you for your help in advance.

HA problem

2015-09-29 Thread Luis
Hi
I have a question, I have my VM configure with HA and every time I restart my
cloudstack all my VM start automatic, the problem is that the CPU goes crazy
working and some times it gets to hot that the serve shuts down, is there a way
to tell HA to start a couple of Servers at a time?

How to configure cloudstack for public use

2015-09-29 Thread Luis
Hi
I hope you can help me or give me an idea with this request

I have a client requesting me to install cloudstack but the client wants to be
able to do what a norma ISP does when selling a VM, let users choose what they
want and assign publics IP.
I will appreciate your comments or ideas.
This are a couple of questions I have.1.- Should I use advance zone for the
Installation?2.- Can I use a pool of Public IP on cloudstack to be assigned on
VM facing Internet?3.- I have PFSense in front of Cloudstack, should I let it
handle the Public IP's and nat to a private IP?4.- Is there any open source
tool that can monitor or limit the bandwidth for cloudstack?

Thank you for your help.

I wonder if some of the experts at this forum could put together a manual to
install clouds tack on Ubuntu or centros I have being trying to install it with
the official manual and is not working. May be if some body do it and takes
notes and screen shots we could have a clear picture of what to do.
