RE: Returning to AnOld version Of an app ATT navigator
Hello Brian, Your question is simple but the solution depends a great deal on how you and your wife purchase your apps and how your respective iTunes Libraries are setup. Having said all of this, the short answer, assuming that all of your proverbial ducks are in a row, on your wife's phone and in the iTunes Library that she uses do the following: 1. Make sure that no version of the app is on her iPhone. 2. From within the iTunes Library on the computer to which she syncs, delete the app entry from the apps area of iTunes. 3. From the iTunes file menu, select Add and browse to the desired .IPA file. This will add an entry item in the iTunes App's area of iTunes that points to the old version of the app. 4. Connect the iPhone to iTunes and follow the normal procedure for installing an app to the phone from iTunes. Bryan, remember, these are merely the broad strokes that assume you have the correct purchasing and permission rights to everything. Thank you Mark. We got it done. Thank goodness. My wife is very happy! On Aug 17, 2014, at 1:28 AM, M. Taylor mk...@ucla.edu wrote: Hello Brian, Your question is simple but the solution depends a great deal on how you and your wife purchase your apps and how your respective iTunes Libraries are setup. Re: wonderful accessibility update to move fitness app
Hello Anna and All, I know some in this thread may think I'm highjackking it, but it's related to the Move app. When I tap on one of the video buttons, I'm taken to Safari to view the video for a particular exercise. VoiceOver loses focus when moving through next and previous stations Pandora 5.5 IOS 7.1.2
Hi all, In using version 5.5 of the Pandora app with IOS 7.1.2 I have noticed that VoiceOver loses focus in the stations tab. When I attempt to swipe left or right through my list of previous or next stations, or when trying to explore the screen to discover stations, VoiceOver either places me on the add station button, shuffle stations icon or the profile tab. Has anyone else encountered this behavior and if so, how have you remedied this issue? A question about Pages on the IPad
Hi there. I’ve downloaded Pages for the IPad thinking i could use it when i write protocols etc for the community i’m in, however i wonder if it’s possible to export to other formats than the native Pages format on the IPad? I know you can export to Word and such on the Mac, but can you do that on the IPad as well? If not, can someone recommend a good text editor/word processor for the IPad that can save to .rtf, word files or the like? Of course it goes without saying that the app should be accessible. Assigning voice to a particular book in voice dream reader
Hello, I have Voice Dream Reader on my iPad mini, and I need to assign a different language with its voice to a book that's not in English. I know that it is possible. I open the book, I go to audio popup and tap on the English language. I am placed in the window which says change language but I can't change it because the only language that shows there is English. I have downloaded foreign voices for the language I need but I don't seem to be able to assign the appropriate language to match the language of the book. Am I missing some steps here? Hi Krister, Yes, you can save Pages files in a variety of formats, including Word, PDF, and ePub. Here are the steps on an iPhone; the process is probably similar on an iPad, but it may be a bit different. Open the document you want to export, choose Tools, then choose Share and Print. Re: My ATT app and mobile share for iPhone
I am normally able to do what I want with the ATT app myself, although it sometimes takes a bit of looking around to find the particular function I'm seeking at the time. As for shutting off data for a particular user, although I don't want to risk it myself seeing as I am currently the only user, it kind of looks like one would be able to accomplish this with the app. When the app first opens, I double tap on my plan, Mobile Share Value Plan 2Gb, in my case. I then double tap on the data link. I then see a link for turn usage on or off, seeing this right after it shows my data usage so far for the period. When I double tap on this link, it says on or off checkbox checked, there is a save button which is dimmed, and there is a cancel button on which I then double tap - Original Message - From: Wayne Merritt wcmerr...@gmail.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Date: Saturday, August 16, 2014 2:13 pm Subject: Re: My ATT app and mobile share for iPhone That's funny, I have the My ATT app and have no trouble with it. Re: A question about Pages on the IPad
Hi alan, I don't think you can set it up so that the file syncs with Dropbox automatically as you work on it, but you can save a file to Dropbox from Pages. With the document open, choose Tools, then Share and Print. Choose the option to open the file in another app. You'll next be on a screen where you select a format. Choose the one you want. If you chose a format such as Word, a version of the file in that format is now created. The screen shows the progress of the file creation. This seems to take quite a while, or at least, it did when I tried saving a fairly short Pages document as a Word file. When the file creation process is finished, there's a Choose App button on screen. Double-tap that. You're now on a screen where you can select the app in which you want to open the file. Choose Dropbox. By default, Pages will save to your main Dropbox folder, but you can specify a folder within Dropbox if you like. Then choose Save, and your file will be saved in Dropbox. Voice dream reader and searching.
Hi all. I have been playing with voice dream reader and searching in books or text files today. I use braille and not the speech much, but it is easy to search with voice dream reader. When I click on a result Voice dream reader starts reading, but instead of that I would like to read in braille, can I do that in any way. I know I can turn the speaking off by pressing pause, but sometimes I need to use this function in places with other people, and when it is not working for me with all that speaking. Re: Can't change VoiceOver speech rate
Hi all, I ended up restoring my phone in iTunes then restoring from a backup, and the problem was still not resolved. Then I tried resetting my settings by using SettingsGeneralResetReset all settings. This resolved the problem, so it would seem that my preferences became corrupt somehow. In any case, at least none of my data was lost, and I am now up and running. After performing the backup and before restoring my phone, I did try a force reset and this did not resolve the problem. Thanks all for the suggestions. Adjusting it from the rotor, or from the VO preferences page, has no effect. Actually, that's not entirely true; VO occasionally announces something using the lower rate, but otherwise sticks to 100%. For example, if I am moving through a bulleted list on a web page, VO announces the bullet symbol in whatever speech rate I have set, but then reverts to 100% to read the rest of the text. I am using iOS 7.1.2 with an iPhone 5S and the default U.S. English voice. I'm not sure that this is a big enough deal to warrant extensive troubleshooting (e.g. restoring the phone or resetting all settings), but I wanted to inquire whether anyone has ever had a similar problem or has any tips. Fw: Problem with VoiceOver reading of station list in Pandora
Hey all, Last week, I wrote to Pandora Support about problems with reading the station list in Pandora. Frankly, I didn't expect to hear back from anybody but I found the following in my inbox this morning and am passing it along. Although version 5.5 fixes the problem where VO doesn't tell you the station name unless hints are turned on, there is a problem with flicking through the list; when doing so, you're apt to lose focus and get bounced down to one of the tabs at the bottom of the screen. Also, you may find that the list scrolls to the bottom where there are recommendations displayed, which is annoying, too. I wrote to Melina about the loss of focus issue and will see what happens. If I hear back from her, I'll let you know. Here's what she had to say. Tom . - Original Message - From: 'Melina | Pandora' To: lang...@gmail.com Sent: Sunday, August 17, 2014 9:18 AM Subject: Re: Problem with VoiceOver reading of station list __ Melina | Pandora AUG 17, 2014 | 09:18AM PDT Hi Tom, Thanks for writing in and for all the feedback. Our latest version of the Pandora app for iPhone should have resolved some of the issues that listeners have been experiencing with VoiceOver. First I recommend rebooting the device by shutting it down entirely, then turning it back on and trying Pandora again. Then try uninstalling and reinstalling as follows: Hold down the Pandora icon on the desktop until all the icons start 'shaking.' Then tap the tiny x that appears in the upper left of the Pandora icon, and confirm that you want to delete the app. Then re-install Pandora via the App Store on the device. Note: Downloading any Application on your devices requires an iTunes Store account. It’s possible you set up this iTunes account with a different email and password than your Pandora account. Also, please be aware that you will need to be running iOS 4.3.3 or higher to be able to reinstall Pandora from the App Store. Let me know how it goes. Best, Melina | Pandora Listener Advocate PANDORA® internet radio Need help? http://help.pandora.com Was my reply helpful? Problem with VoiceOver reading of station list AUG 15, 2014 | 07:19AM PDT Original message Hello. VoiceOver (which is built into IOS) allows blind users like me to navigate the screen and hear screen elements spoken aloud, enabling easy identification and selection. When attempting to identify station names and make a selection, Pandora doesn't allow VoiceOver to properly identify and speak station names unless VoiceOver hints are turned on. Without hints turned on, VoiceOver just says station name, station name, station name et cetera when I move my finger up and down or flicking through the station list. When hints are turned on, I'll hear VoiceOver say things like station name: double tapping opens Robin Williams Radio or station name: double tapping opens Monty Python Radio et cetera et cetera. This makes station selection time consuming and cumbersome at best. Can this problem be fixed, and if so, when? We blind users would certainly appreciate your attention to this problem, preferably sooner rather than later. Also, when developing updates, please ensure that they're properly tested with VoiceOver. We'd appreciate that, too. Thanks in advance for your prompt attention and consideration. Seeking Advice about organising email between my iPhone 5 and Microsoft Outlook
Hi there I am wanting to synchronise my email across Microsoft Outlook 2010 and my IPhone 5. Specifically, I'm wanting to set up the system so if I delete or file an email on one device it is reflected on the other device. Ideally, I would have the same file structure on both devices. I subscribe to a number of lists and am also wanting these automatically saved into folders. If I want this to happen on both Windows and the iPhone, am I better to use Gmail webmail to do the filtering? I am happy to use/purchase a third party app if you know it will help in this process. Also, slightly off topic, I have set up rules in Microsoft Outlook but they don't seem to be running automatically. Is there a way I can have them running automatically? I have set the message format to IMAP. Might this be part of the problem? Your advice on any of this would be much appreciated. Re: Seeking Advice about organising email between my iPhone 5 and Microsoft Outlook
I am using outlook 2013, and my mail syncs just fine on my phone and in outlook. There use to be a plug in you needed for outlook called outlook plus or hotmail plus. Can't remember the exact name, but I don't think it is necessary any more. I also filter mail in to folders on the outlook website, and it reflects on the iPhone and in outlook, as well as as apple mail on the mac. The thing I like about outlook mail, as well as yahoo that gmail does not have, is you can pick the folders in mail on the iPhone that you want notifications for. Wish gmail had that. Anyway, you should be able to set this up with no issues. If you need any help, my contact info is below. iMessage is where you will get the fastest reply.
