Re: Moore voice dream reader nonsense

2016-11-03 Thread Mary Otten
Are used to think it was a fabulous app, Richard. But now unless this can be
fixed, I'm just about done with it. I can't tell you how much time I spent
redoing my library. Now if all of the stuff I redid Plus all new downloads
since then and prior to the update, with the interesting exception of PDFs that
came from the net, is going to be dead, and thus far I have literally tried a
dozen books, all of them screwed up, I just don't know. It's not worth it.

Good idea. Since we got the new text selection and copy features back in iOS 9,
I have really not thought about that clipboard copy feature. I never really
used it much anyway. But this would be a good time for it. If Winston doesn't
understand what I'm talking about with my approximation, I will definitely send
him the exact message. It's easy to duplicate, since I have a lot of books and
they are all displaying this problem. I can not understand why bunches of books
that all look just fine all have the same problem. I can't believe I have that
bad of a connection over that much time.

If you can reproduce the error message try letting Voiceover read the entire

RE: Internet browser on Apple TV

2016-11-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
This is one of the things I am surprised about. I would have thought Apple by
now would have released a Safari app for the Apple TV. I can only assume they
are also not allowing companies like Firefox or Atomic to make web browsers for
the Apple TV for some reason.

Sieghard

RE: purpose of apple tv

2016-11-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Kliphton,

Just thought I add to your very good and concise post about the Apple TV that
even though Donald Trump may not agree, the world is larger than the United
States and all these channels you can watch/listen to on the Apple TV if you
have an existing subscription are limited to the US. Fanus is in South Africa
and I’m in Canada and while we have Netflix here, there is a lot less content
available than on the american Netflix due to copyright and licensing issues
and most of the other ones you mentioned are not available even in Canada let
alone elsewhere in the world. I find it amazing how some companies tute their
horn about all these great devices but they forget to mention that you can only
get them in the United States, Amazon is one example.

Fanus, as for the Apple TV, it still is a wonderful device even in Canada since
it does allow me to use apps like Youtube, many apps from tech sites like
Engadget, Twit TV and also Podcasts. I can stream music and of course movies I
bought from iTunes, you can rent iTunes movies which I assume is available in
many countries and Netflix is also available in many countries and it’s
probably the most accessible experience on the Apple TV. Furthermore I can
Airplay anything from my iPhone to the Apple TV even if there I sno native app
and if I want to show photos to friends on the big screen then I can also do
that.

It’s not a super expensive device as Apple things are concerned and as Kliphton
said, it is fully accessible with it’s own version of Voiceover. It’s a pretty
good device to have if you are at all invested in the Apple Echo system and in
the future it will also play nice with many home automation devices if you are
into this type of stuff.

Well, it does more than stream music an movies. You can log in to most
channels offered buy a service provider like time warner, comcast, or direct.
Of course you must pay for these subscriptions, or get someone to share there
info with you. The appleTV also has some games to be played on it. My
favorite app is infuse, this allows me to stream my entire movie collection to
my appleTV4 without using iTunes, or having to leave my mac on for Plex or some
other third party. And the best part about it, I don’t have to convert my
movie files in to mp4, they can be any format and infuse will stream them. The
most important thing for most of us, is we don’t need sited help to control the
appleTV, voiceover reads everything on the screen so we can control HBO,
netflix, Hulu, or whatever service you are using, including the network TV apps
at that have on demand content.

I am not a movie fan so I ask this question on behalf of a blind friend who

Keep in mind that you can dictate anywhere including spelling passwords and
user names. Also, if you have a bluetooth keyboard you can pair it for easier
typing and in fact you can pretty much control the Apple TV completely with a
bluetooth keyboard. Only thing I can't remember now is if there is a way to

My friend helped me set it up, because I didn't see the message in time,

I actually like the little gesture area. I thought it would be very

The keyboard is still a bit confusing to me. But overall I like the new

RE: Apps Updating Even When Background Refresh Is Off

2016-11-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Arnold,

This is not correct, Background App Refresh has absolutely nothing to do with
apps updating automatically, it simply determines whether apps for which
background app refresh is on do exactly that "refresh when they are in the
background" and this refers to content only, not to actual apps updating to a
newer version. Here is what Apple has to say about Background App Refresh:

Use Background App Refresh

After you switch to a different app, some apps run for a short period of time
before they're set to a suspended state. Apps that are in a suspended state
aren’t actively in use, open, or taking up system resources.
With Background App Refresh, suspended apps can check for updates and new
content.
If you want suspended apps to check for new content, go to Settings > General >
Background App Refresh and turn on Background App Refresh.
If you quit an app from the app switcher, it might not be able to run or check
for new content before you open it again.

Whether apps update automatically or wait for you to initiate the update
manually is entirely determined in Settings > iTunes and App Store.
Note that there is a difference between turning on or off "Apps" and "Updates".
The heading says "Automatic Downloads" and the explanation says "Automatically
download new purchases, including free, made on other devices".
The items you can turn on or off are this:
Music
Apps
Books and Audio Books
Updates
Maybe this is a bit misleading although it's clear to me. The first 3 refer to
automatic downloads for purchases made on other devices. For example, if you
turn on all 3, Music, Apps as well as Books and Audio Books, then if you
purchase any of these let's say on an ipad or in iTunes on your computer the
items will automatically download to your iPhone.
The last item, Updates, has nothing to do with purchases made on other devices
since updates aren't purchases. You can trust me that if you make sure this is
turned off then none of your apps will update automatically since "Automatic
downloads for updates" is off. What I am not sure about is whether if you have
Apps turned on and an app is updated on another device whether that will then
also happen on your iPhone. I actually doubt it, but I'm not sure. This of
course only applies anyways if you have Automatic Downloads for apps purchased
on other devices turned on, if you want to be sure just turn off both Apps and
Updates.
As for Background App Refresh, you can also turn most of them off, it will save
you some battery especially if you keep apps open in the app switcher. If you
are like me and remove everything from the app switcher that you don't use all
the time several times a day then it doesn't matter anyways, you can have
Background App Refresh turned on for every single app and as long as said app
is not actually running in the app switcher (suspended or not) nothing happens.

Sieghard

That was already off. As I read it, that setting has to do with automaticly
updating apps that were downloaded or updated on another device on more Apple
ID. Background App Refresh allows apps already on my device to update in the
background without my telling them to update. Either way, both settings ′were,
and are, off, yet, for example, Voice Dream Reader updated yesterday
automatically. I hope I can get this stopped, before something updates to an
unaccessible version without my permission.

Moore voice dream reader nonsense

2016-11-03 Thread Mary Otten
I have to say, I am really disgusted with this app, which used to be so
reliable, before the update, and now before this most recent update. I wonder
if anyone has run across the following problem. If you are a book share user,
and you have downloaded books before the most recent update, and you have
iCloud sink in abled, what happens if you try to open a book share book which
looks like it should be OK according to the listing in voice dream reader. That
is, your book says the title and the author and the fact that it is a daisy
book and 0% read, assuming you haven't read any of it. Double tap on this, and
you get an error message saying that the file something about metadata is not
available and therefore cannot be saved. Well I'm not trying to save anything,
I just want to read the book. If you hit OK on that error message, you still
can't read the book. I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. This app used to be very
very reliable. Then we got iCloud sink, which for some of us was a disaster. So
then I redid my entire library, and now it appears that most everything in
there is going to be unusable because of some stupid error message. This is
just not OK.

controlling the system, is there a way to do a two finger flick up equivalent
with the Bluetooth keyboard?

I'm going to have to try that when I get home.
One more question though.
You said that the button next to the power (second button going from left to

There will always be crashes, I recently went to the Apple Store in Calgary
because my iPhone 6S Plus shut down several times when I was out and about and
when it was a bit colder outside. I keep the iPhone against my body so even
when it’s cold and I pull it out the phone is warm and while I could see it
shutting off when it’s -30 outside and I keep it out for a longer period of
time, it was not even 0 (or 32 as you americans would say). It was a few
degrees above 0, so around the mid to high 30’s) and whenever I restarted the
phone I would barely put in my PIN when it shut down again. Anyhow, I had
iPhones since the 4S in 2010 and none of them has ever done this so I assumed
it was maybe a faulty sensor inside the phone. The girl at the Apple Store ran
the full diagnostic and said she could see multiple crashes and suggested that
it is a good idea to reboot iPhones in general maybe once a week as this helps
to avoid certain issues which may arise when a phone has not been rebooted for
a very long time. Anyhow, I then upgraded to iOS 10.1.1 and the problem of my
phone shutting down persisted so I went back to the Apple Store, explained the
issue to a different Apple Genious and he agreed that this sounded strange and
since I have Apple Care Plus he replaced my phone. Since this was a warranty
replacement and not an accidental damage replacement this didn’t cost me a dime
except of course the time it took to get my new phone going again. Since it’s
been some time when I set up as a new phone I decided to do this. Calgary is
not home so I had brought my laptop and did it at the Apple Store, a very nice
guy at the “setup table” helped me throughout the process since I had all my
apps on my laptop with the latest updates and thought it would be faster to
sync them than to redownload them one by one. Since of course this is not
currently possible with Windows, Jaws and iTunes, the Apple guy checked off all
the apps I wanted and then got the sync going.

I’m currently doing a complete restore of my iPhone, which means I’ll have to
download all the Navigon maps and fix other settings.
The problem occurred at home with a good connexion to our network. I find it
interesting that turning VoiceOver off cures the problem, so the internet
connexion couldn’t be the issue.

Hello Feliciano,

I already did a reset of

Withings Thermo body thermometer - another great Apple Store experience

2016-11-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Listers,

I just wanted to briefly post about a new gadget I purchased from the Apple
Store while I was here in Calgary. The item is the Withings Thermo Smart
Thermometer meant to measure body temperature. It is rather on the expensive
side at $109 Canadian (it is $99 US on the Withings website and from what I saw
it's the same on Amazon). Of course this actually means we are getting a good
deal here in Canada since $99 US at the current exchange rate is about $135
Canadian.
Anyhow, it does seem to be a very nice device, the app is mostly accessible
although a few times during the setup I had to find a "Next" button by touch
since I couldn't swipe to it and it can be integrated with the Health app so
that your body temperature measurements appear there. I was hoping I could also
take a look at another thermometer from "Kinsa", it is an in-ear thermometer
which is only $69 Canadian, but they didn't have it in stock and I like the
fact that with the Withings you just swipe it across your forehead and you can
be about half an inch away from the skin not even touching and it still works.
The girl who helped me at first showed me the box, I asked if there were any
way for me to actually feel it and she had no problem opening the box. I then
mentioned that given the relatively high price there was still the risk that
the app may not be accessible and she promptly said why don't we pair it with
your phone and try it out. You can pair this via Bluetooth or WiFi and since I
didn't want to try to do this over the open Apple wireless network at the store
we did bluetooth. At first we had a heck of a time to get it to work. She then
went in the back and said she wanted to talk to one fo their guys who might
know a lot more about it. They came back 5 minutes later and he told me he
owned the product himself and then showed me how to use it successfully. The
thermometer does have a display and you can assign measurements to different
family members, but you can also do this in the app and it all is quite
accessible. We wre also able to enable this in the Health app, but in order to
do so we had to use the search feature in the Health app and search for "body
temperature" and add this to the favourites screen so it's there and easy to
find.
The results definitely seem to be accurate and you can of course set the Thermo
to display in Celsius or Fahrenheit and it's pretty cool how fast it does this.
You basically start about in the middle of your forehead and swipe either to
the left or right to about your tempel, do it nice and slow and by the time you
get there the Thermo vibrates which means the measurement was taken.
All in all the experience at the Apple Store was fantastic, the service
outstanding and I ended up buying two of them since the manager of my retail
store and his girl-friend just had a baby and I thought this would make a good
present. They received tons of clothing from friends and babies do after all
get sick and it's a good thing to have a good thermometer to check their
temperature. Of course if any of you guys are out on a date you can always
bring it and swipe it across your dates forehead to see how "hot" she is *bad
joke*.
Finally, below is a link for the product on the Withings website:
http://www.withings.com/us/en/products/thermo
If anybody owns one of the Kinsa in-ear thermometers maybe they can post their
experience and feedback since it is a less expensive option.

I think the next health and fitness item on our list is the Withings smart
scale, it seems to be one of the better ones out there compared to the other
major brands such as Fitbit, Qardio and so on.

Best regards,
Sieghard

To delete all paired devices with the unit on, press and hold the Bluetooth

Braille translation app for iPad

2016-11-03 Thread Becky
Hi all,
I also posted to the Mac visionaries list with the same question only for the
Mac. I will be starting a course that will require me to translate text into
UEB Math and Nemeth. I'm trying to find an app that will either work on my iPad
or my Mac that is VoiceOver compatible and will allow me to translate text into
both of these codes. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you for your help.

At this point, you can delete all the third-party applications and see if the
problem still persists. It would be a big sacrifice, but if you want to
continue troubleshooting...

There is an update to IOS 10.2 available, perhaps you’d like to try this to see

I’m currently doing a complete restore of my iPhone, which means I’ll have to
download all the Navigon maps and fix other settings.
The problem occurred at home with a good connexion to our network. I find it
interesting that turning VoiceOver off cures the problem, so the internet
connexion couldn’t be the issue.

I noticed this with several apps as well. I take that it is a new feature/bug

It seems like a bug to me, but maybe it is a feature to some to quickly go back

I have voice dream reader on my iPhone 7 Plus and my iPad mini two. I have been
noticing, since the upgrade to iOS 10, that on the iPad, in the app switcher, I
get something that says voice dream reader according to your current location,
or something very close to that. And it cannot be dismissed from the app
switcher. This only seems to happen on the iPad. Yesterday, four instance, I
had voice dream reader on my iPad open. I got finished with it, and dismissed
the app from my app switcher. Having done that, remaining in the app switcher
what is this thing that says voice dream reader according to your current
location. If I double tap on it, it is identified as a button, the app opens.
This is frustrating, since you're not supposed to have two voice dream readers
open at once. Has anyone seen this? Has anyone noticed a pattern? I can
certainly write to Winston and will do so. But I thought I would ask first to
see what others had been experiencing.

the app from my app switcher.

Radium

2016-11-03 Thread Mary Otten
I got a response to my email to the folks at radium regarding the recent
message that the app needs to be updated for iOS 10, and it is not good news.
Radium, they informed me, is no longer being developed. They did say they are
maintaining their database. They did not specify that it was only the iPhone
app that was not being developed. My question was about that app, but they said
nothing at all about the Mac app, no distinction was drawn between the iPhone
app being developed or not and the Mac app being developed or not. Therefore, I
think it means radium development is not happening on any front. Too bad, as it
was a great app but will undoubtedly come up not working at all sooner or later.

The Bose sound link speaker

2016-11-03 Thread Jim Portillo
Hello,

I just acquired a Bose sound link speaker. It was originally owned by a friend
of mine. I'm trying to do a couple things. First, I'm trying to figure out the
buttons. Second, I'm trying to see if I can delete the two devices that were
previously paired or connected to this device. Is there a way to do this, or
would she have to do it from her devices? My friend was unfamiliar with some of
the buttons and couldn't tell me what they did. Does anybody have any
experience with one of the speakers? They sound great! I'd like to get mine
working with my devices.

Re: purpose of apple tv

2016-11-03 Thread Kliphton Miller

Seem To Have Lost Alex

2016-11-03 Thread Keith Bundy
I just got a new iPhone 7 yesterday. I originally did a restore from
iCloud, but something seemed to be slowing my phone down.

I erased everything and set up the phone as a new phone today. Now, when I
click Settings, General, Accessibility, Speech, and Voices, I find several
voices, but not Alex.

Any idea what may be going on and how I can get Alex to return? Thanks.

Re: Loving Apple tv, have more questions

2016-11-03 Thread Wayne Merritt
Terri,
If you are using the same Apple ID on the Apple TV that you use with
your iPhone or other iOS device, you can go into the App Store on the
TV and find the purchased section. Here you will find a list of all of
the apps which are TV compatible that you have downloaded to your
other devices. This is an easy way to see a list of what works since
you're looking at apps you already have and may be more comfortable
with. If I have the location of this list wrong I'm sure someone will
correct.

I got an Apple TV in the summer and wondered why I waited so long to
get one as well. I love playing music on it and watching videos and
shows from YouTube and CBS All Access. Note that if you have accounts
from YouTube, Netflix or Hulu, and bring up those apps on the TV and
try to sign in, you will likely be prompted to visit a certain web
page in order to activate the TV on your account. Once you visit the
site, you may be prompted to enter a code. I don't recall if you enter
the code on the iOS device or on the TV. Either way, once you enter
the code and hit submit, you will be able to access your account and
all of the regular features of the app with the TV.

Finally, you can do a voice search with Siri and say, "Search the App
Store for (name of app)." This may help you find apps to download
initially.

Good luck,
Wayne

purpose of apple tv

2016-11-03 Thread Fanus
Hello Sieghard and list
Please pardon my stupid question but can anyone in a few sentences explain the
purpose of the apple tv. Is it only for downloading and playing music and
movies on the tv or can one control the tv set to a certain extent i.e. can one
hear the menu and shedule normal tv programs etc.?
I am not a movie fan so I ask this question on behalf of a blind friend who
wants to access the tv.

Keep in mind that you can dictate anywhere including spelling passwords and
user names. Also, if you have a bluetooth keyboard you can pair it for easier
typing and in fact you can pretty much control the Apple TV completely with a
bluetooth keyboard. Only thing I can't remember now is if there is a way to
invoke SIRI with a bluetooth keyboard.

Hello to Daniel and all who have helped me with my Apple tv, so far. I really
appreciate it.

I really dislike saying this, because I was so hesetant to purchase it.
But I absolutely love it! I think it's awesome!

My friend helped me set it up, because I didn't see the message in time,
telling me how to start voiceover. But once we got voiceover on, I took
it over.

I actually like the little gesture area. I thought it would be very
difficult to use. But not at all. And I like how you press the little
clicker thing at the end. Ok, surely not the propper name for it. LOL!

The keyboard is still a bit confusing to me. But overall I like the new
set up so far. I find it faster to choose letters, and such.

Also, one feature I really loved, was how easy it was to set it up, and
connect to my network. I liked how I unlocked my phone, and held it near
the tv. That was too cool how it used the bluetooth. The set up was
flawless.

I haven't done much with it, beyond that. Mainly, because I am not sure
what to do.

How do I get my apps like, CBS, Hulu, and Netflix on there?

Even if they are on my Ipad, and I have subscriptions, do I have to
download them on to the Apple TV?

I couldn't find an area where I could see all my apps. But maybe I don't
know where to look.

Also, if I want other free or subscription-based apps for movies, or tv
shows, how do I go about finding such stuff?

Unfortunately, I don't know many apps, and I honestly don't know how to
search for such things.

I'd like to find apps that are pretty accessible. But I'd try some apps
just to check them out as well, if I knew how to find them.

Also, how do you know which news apps give broadcasts of stories, and
not just articles?

I know NPR has a news app.

Any help with any of this would be much appreciated. I'm going to mess
around with the Apple tv more, tomorrow. I am definitely happy I bought
it. I can't believe now that I was so intimidated by it.

Thank you,

Terri

Re: Apps Updating Even When Background Refresh Is Off

2016-11-03 Thread Arnold Schmidt
That was already off. As I read it, that setting has to do with automaticly
updating apps that were downloaded or updated on another device on more Apple
ID. Background App Refresh allows apps already on my device to update in the
background without my telling them to update. Either way, both settings ′were,
and are, off, yet, for example, Voice Dream Reader updated yesterday
automatically. I hope I can get this stopped, before something updates to an
unaccessible version without my permission.

Yes, I had the same problem, with whatever station I chose subsequent to the

I also had the warning message from Apple, so I just removed Radium.

Hi Mary,

Well, I had not used Radium in a long while because of issues with it not
playing, when TuneIn would play just fine.

I just duplicated that problem. I launched Radium and BBC Radio 4 Extra,
played, though after a longish pause.

Then I tried BBC World Service. Nothing came through. I waited a couple
minutes. I switched to TuneIn Radio Pro and BBC World Service started playing
almost immediately.

So, for me, I'm sticking with TuneIn. There is a way to write Radium support
under the More Options, Settings.

I wrote them about the warning concerning iOS 10. I will write them about BBC
World Service not playing.

Apple iOS 10.1.1 Is Now Available: What Is Included In The Update?
Amit Chowdhry
Apple has released iOS 10.1.1 to the general public today. The iOS 10.1.1
update comes one week after iOS 10.1 was released. The reason why Apple
quickly issued this software update is because it fixes a bug that Forbes
contributor Gordon Kelly reported exclusively last week. Apple declined to
reply to requests to acknowledge the bug until now. You can install iOS
10.1.1 by connecting your device to iTunes or downloading it by going to
Settings > General > Software Update. The iOS 10.1.1 update is available for
the following devices: iPhone 5 and later, iPad 4th generation and later and
iPod touch 6th generation and later.
What Is Included In The Update?
The software update is relatively small at under 70MB, which indicates that
it is a minor update with a few bug fixes. There weren’t any betas of iOS
10.1.1 either. And the changelog of the iOS 10.1.1 software update
says: “This update fixes bugs including an issue where Health data could not
be viewed for some users.”
There were many complaints about health data not being visible following the
iOS 10.1.1 update within the Apple Communities forum so it is a relief that
Apple turned around a fix in a short amount of time:

And Forbes contributor Gordon Kelly said that he was contacted by many
people directly “with stories of hours spent on the phone to Apple tech
support, all without resolution.” Many Twitter users also said that they
attempted to reboot and factory reset the devices, but the Health app data
did not reappear:

iOS 10.1 was somewhat of a major update. iOS 10.1 included a “Portrait”
mode, which helps make the most out of the dual cameras in the iPhone 7
Plus. The Portrait camera mode essentially utilized the wide-angle and
telephoto iPhone 7 lenses in a way to create portraits with depth effects.
This makes the subjects of the photos look sharp while also creating blurred
backgrounds, known as “bokeh” effects. iOS 10.1 also included Transit
directions for Apple Maps in Japan. And iOS 10.1 also added a “Reduce
Motion” setting for the Bubble and Screen effects in the Messages app.

I believe he is referring to having VoiceOver Hints turned on and when you
touch a button, wait to hear what the hint says.

Also, in the user manual, here is the VoiceOver specific section:

VoiceOver Users Only

The navigation controls change for VoiceOver users. Voice Dream contains a
special type of buttons: in addition to double tapping to activate, you can
swipe up or down with 1 finger or 3 fingers to perform other functions. Listen
carefully through the hints to find out what each button can do.

If VoiceOver focus is on the Play/Pause button, you can double tap to Play and
double tap again to Pause. In addition, swiping up does a rewind and swiping
down does a fast forward.

Navigation Unit button, to the right of the Play/Pause button, is also swipe
enabled. Swipe up or down to cycle through available Navigation Units.

The Audio Settings button is swipe enabled. Swipe up or down to change the
speech rate.

The Position slider which state the percentage location in the document is
swipe enabled. It’s also a button. Double tapping would let you type in a
percentage location to scroll to.

Finally, Voice Dream Reader features an unique and highly effective method for
selecting text. The swipe-enabled button is to the left of the Play-Pause
button. While VoiceOver focus is on this button, you can swipe up and down to
move the speech cursor one word at a time, which sets the starting location of
text selection. Swipe up or down with 3 fingers to move the speech cursor one
sentence at a time. After setting the start location, double tap. Now, you will
set the end location of the text selection. Again, swipe with one finger to
move it by word and 3 fingers to move it by sentence. Double tap again, and
you’ll hear the text you selected and presented with a list of actions you can
perform on the selected text.

There is an update to IOS 10.2 available, perhaps you’d like to try this to see
if it’s a bug they’ve already fixed?

I’m currently doing a complete restore of my iPhone, which means I’ll have to
download all the Navigon maps and fix other settings.

The problem occurred at home with a good connexion to our network. I find it
interesting that turning VoiceOver off cures the problem, so the internet
connexion couldn’t be the issue.

Re: VoiceOver draining battery since 10.1 update

2016-11-03 Thread Anne Robertson
I’ve been in correspondence with Apple Accessibility about this problem which
occurred again on updating to iOS 10.1.1. However, this time, turning VoiceOver
off didn’t fix the problem.
They asked me to send them the crash logs which I did, and they saw that
VoiceOver had been crashing multiple times and suggested a clean install. I
had, of course, already done this.
I wonder what it is about my particular phone or setup that is causing this
problem.

Cheers,

Anne

Keep in mind that you can dictate anywhere including spelling passwords and

Subject: Loving Apple tv, have more questions

Thank you,

Terri

RE: Is this a good price for an Apple TV?

2016-11-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There is no official Kodi app you can simply download, if there were of course
there would be no reason why companies would sell an Apple TV with Kodi
installed for an upcharge. It would appear that you can sideload Kodi using
Xcode, of course this is probably something a lot of people can't do because I
believe you definitely need a Mac for this so if you are a PC user as far as I
know this is not possible.
Apparently all of us with an old Apple TV 2 could jailbreak it and install Kodi
on it and hence have an accessible box with Kodi. Something I may look into.

iMessage bug

2016-11-03 Thread Lynette frison
Hey all,

Since updating to iOS 10.1.1, the messaging apps feature in iMessage doesn't
work like it's supposed to. The only way to cycle between iMessage apps or
stickers is to turn VO off and swipe left with one finger. I have quite a few
sticker packs and apps that I use, so this is very tedious. Has anyone else
noticed this?

Hi Scott,
I tried hid also but that does not seem to work on the iphone (by that I mean i

I dont think the refreshbraille is sold here in the Netherlands but the himms

displays have a bug where braille input/typing is concerned?
Not that that would be a big issue for me but still…

I do not have the Apple TV on right now, but across the top of the screen if

Subject: Loving Apple tv, have more questions

Hello to Daniel and all who have helped me with my Apple tv, so far. I
really appreciate it.

Thank you,

Terri

Hello everyone,

Well, I went to the App store earlier, and I found the purchased
section. There I found a few of my previous downloads like, Hulu,
Netflix, CBS, and a couple others. I got them installed with no issues.
I got signed in to both Netflix and Hulu. Though this took some time, as
I had to remember a password.

I'll have to get help signing in to CBS, because the code reads too
fast. I don't think I can get Voiceover to read it back.

I still want to add some more Apps. So I am hoping you all may have some
ideas for me.

Now to say all that, here is my situation.

I got signed in to Hulu. It lagged, just like it did with the older
Apple tv. It just didn't say connecting a few times, this time.

It started reading shows. I thought it would just mention one, and then
stop. But it didn't. I guess it's the top stuff, because it isn't
normally stuff I watch.

Is there a way to stop this from happening? Or will it just do this from
now on?

But that's not my biggest concern.

I watch Grey's Anatomy a lot on Hulu. I found the watch list, and I
found Grey's. I found the episode I wanted.

I tried to play it, but it won't work. It plays maybe 2 seconds, every
time I try. Then it completely throws me out of Hulu.

I tried 3, or 4 times. But it just wouldn't work. So I gave up.

Is anyone else using Hulu on the new Apple tv?

If so, are you having any issues?

I know it's not my wireless connection. The Apps installed quickly.
Plus, I got CNN news clips to play just fine.

Any thoughts would surely be appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri

Apple tv, and Hulu

2016-11-03 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everyone,

Well, I went to the App store earlier, and I found the purchased
section. There I found a few of my previous downloads like, Hulu,
Netflix, CBS, and a couple others. I got them installed with no issues.
I got signed in to both Netflix and Hulu. Though this took some time, as
I had to remember a password.

I'll have to get help signing in to CBS, because the code reads too
fast. I don't think I can get Voiceover to read it back.

I still want to add some more Apps. So I am hoping you all may have some
ideas for me.

Now to say all that, here is my situation.

RE: Voice Dream Reader and Using Siri Voices?

2016-11-03 Thread Jeffrey Turner
I’m using Alex on mine now, and enjoy it very much.

Hi.

I’m curious about using native voices in Voice Dream Reader. Does this include
Alex? If so it may make me lean to getting renewed with Book Share.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Have a blessed day and don’t work too hard.
