Hello Wui,

Then you should be notified of any updates to either Safari or iTunes. If not,
then in System Preferences, go to Software Update, and check for updates.

RE: latest itunes update

2019-10-01 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Wui,

If you wish to install the latest version of iTunes on a Windows PC, in your
preferred browser, go to
https://www.apple.com/itunes/.

It is always better to install iTunes from a fresh copy rather than doing so
while the application is running.

Note to those using the enterprise, non-supported version of iTunes. Your
current install will support iOS 13.x so there is no need to update your copy
of iTunes.

Mark

RE: latest itunes update

2019-10-01 Thread Rob Armstrong
If you open iTunes on your PC or Mac, you will most likely get a dialog box
that says a new version is available. There will be a link in the dialog box
to download and install the update.

When you press the space bar or Enter on the download button it may
automatically do everything. Or it may take you to the web site where you have
to download the update.

Subject: Latest iTunes update and Jaws 18

After the latest update to iTunes on my Windows 7 PC, I cannot use iTunes at
all! Is anyone else having this problem? When I open iTunes, Jaws reads the
selection that is selected when the program opens. Any key I hit now keeps
giving me a "invalid script call to " whatever key I press. If I press the tab
key, then Jaws says "Invalid script call to the tab key", and then it spells
out "the tab key". Anyone else having this problem? Also, iTunes doesn't open
when I connect my iPhone anymore, but my iPhone 6 says it is charging, so I
know the cable is ok. I get the above error in iTunes even if I open iTunes
when my phone isn't connected. Any thoughts?

I did have Blind Tunes installed, and I tried uninstalling them to see if they
were conflicting somehow, but no luck!

Thanks in advance for your help!

RE: Latest iTunes update and Jaws 18

2016-12-16 Thread Larry Lumpkin
The newest itunes update didn’t do much for me either. I can use it but I
think its functionality is very poor.

Jerry

Hi!

I'm going o answer to the original post here since I've lost the

thread.

I agree Freedom Scientific, GW Micro and NV Access are
responsible for

how will their respective products will interact with different
kindsof

software on Windows compatible PCs.

However, I don't agree they are completely responsible. Software

developers have the means and ability to make their apps more
simple,

more accessible and more hookable to some standards so the
screen

readers can use the most of the app interface with no further
adjusting,

making scripts, set files or external modules.

iTunes, as an app in question, is way complicated and
graphically

furnished than it should be for its purpose. Long story short,
iTunes is

just a player with ability to synchronize with iDevices, nothing
more

nothing less and it could be much, much simpler than it is.

Regarding its design, basically it has left side with some kind
of tree

view with various categories and the right side with options,
settings

and controls for selected category. Tis can easily look like
Winamp

Preferences dialog or Jaws Settings Center, both accessible and
usable

to the core.

OK, now someone will tell Winamp needs some Jaws scripting which
is true

and it is obvious Jaws Settings Center has to be accessible but
similar

dialogs found in other apps are not screen reader supported and
still

are accessible. Right now I can think of Settings dialog of
Utorrent,

Free Download Manager and there are tones of apps with this kind
of

interface.

If the app is designed in some standards screen reader will have
a

better chance to interact with it and Apple is the first who
should know it.

it’s their problem.

Hi!

I'm going o answer to the original post here since I've lost the topic thread.

I agree Freedom Scientific, GW Micro and NV Access are responsible for how will
their respective products will interact with different kindsof software on
Windows compatible PCs.

However, I don't agree they are completely responsible. Software developers
have the means and ability to make their apps more simple, more accessible and
more hookable to some standards so the screen readers can use the most of the
app interface with no further adjusting, making scripts, set files or external
modules.

iTunes, as an app in question, is way complicated and graphically furnished
than it should be for its purpose. Long story short, iTunes is just a player
with ability to synchronize with iDevices, nothing more nothing less and it
could be much, much simpler than it is.

Regarding its design, basically it has left side with some kind of tree view
with various categories and the right side with options, settings and controls
for selected category. Tis can easily look like Winamp Preferences dialog or
Jaws Settings Center, both accessible and usable to the core.

OK, now someone will tell Winamp needs some Jaws scripting which is true and it
is obvious Jaws Settings Center has to be accessible but similar dialogs found
in other apps are not screen reader supported and still are accessible. Right
now I can think of Settings dialog of Utorrent, Free Download Manager and there
are tones of apps with this kind of interface.

If the app is designed in some standards screen reader will have a better
chance to interact with it and Apple is the first who should know it.

2016-08-30 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Well, while it may not all be up to Freedom Scientific or VFO or whatever they
are called now, it is both the responsibility of Apple and the screenreader
makers. I sure hope that VFO is having talks with Apple about iTunes
accessibility since only they can tell Apple what Apple needs to do so that
they can do what they must do.
Apple used to point out that iTtunes worked best with Window Eyes, but I think
for a while before Windo Eyes became part of VFO Jaws was actually working at
least as good or better and now that both screenreaders are under the same hat
so to speak I really hope Apple and VFO get their wires crossed in a way that
is going to result in an improvement to accessibility and not a reduction.

Hi. Has anyone gotten the latest itunes to function with jaws? I talked to
apple accessibility and their take is that since we’re using jaws, it’s their
problem.

Hi Larry,

If you mean really accessible that would be iTunes 11, but the problem is that
as far as I know you can’t use that any more with iOS 9 let alone the upcoming
iOS 10.

One thing to bear in mind about filenames in iTunes. The Windows names are
truncated when you look at them in Windows Explorer. This has held true since
at least 2010. Sometimes that's a factor. Otherwise see my earlier message of
a few minutes ago and thanks for this one.

  Hi Gary,

I just downloaded iTunes 12.4.1 on my Windows 10 laptop where I use Jaws 17
as my screenreader. One thing that is slightly improved is when you go to the
Apps area in iTunes. Before once you tabbed into the app grid view you could
not tab forward to where Jaws would read the What’s New section or to the
Update All button. Instead you had to go to the Search field with Control+F and
then use Shift+Tab to go backwards until you came to the update all button. Now
in 12.4.1 Jaws again reads the What’s New and you can tab normally. However,
Jaws still does not read the names of the apps in the grid view as you arrow
around, you basically have to tab once past the grid view, then Jaws says what
app it has focus on, you can then Shift+Tab, move the cursor right or left,
then tab again to hear the name of that app and read the What’s New.

I don’t usually use iTunes to download or listen to Podcasts since I find
using a Podcast client like the native Podcast app or Downcast is such a good
experience. However, I just opened the Podcasts area and I guess at some point
I had added the Today in iOS Podcast and Cool blind Tech and I was able to
focus on one of these, then tab until I got a listing of episodes and I was
able to arrow up and down in that list and so on.

Of course if you set it up so new episodes download to your computer you will
have a “Podcasts” folder in your iTunes Media folder with subfolders for the
various Podcasts and in each of them you will find all the episodes.

I'm dealing specifically with podcasts and I'm definitely not having your
success. My version of Window-Eyes is 9.1.
I did find out one of the reasons I had the problem I did with i a long
conversion with Accessibility with an excellent advisor.
In the tree view of podcasts, iTunes collapses the tree so that only the top
item of any podcast shows. Some of my 'casts have several shows to any given
date. Those additional shows were not showing at all.
The advisor said to try 3 right arrows in succession. I did and nothing
happened.
Then she said to try a faster 3 right arrows. That worked but with no sound or
change of wording from the speaker.
Up and down cursor did show that the tree had expanded.
The same applied if I went left arrow 3 times quickly. No voice
acknowledgement but there was a change.
Without someone viewing the screen either from my end or on Apple's side, there
would have been no way whatsoever that I would have known what was going on.
That qualifies as very bad design.
I have no idea where else it might rear its ugly head.

RE: Latest iTunes

2016-06-04 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
When the word “native” or “stock” is used in connection with an app it
typically refers to one of the apps which are preinstalled on the iPhone and,
which at this point can’t be deleted from the iPhone. These are apps like Mail,
Clock, Calendar, Contacts, Wallet, Notes, Voice Memos etc. “Podcasts” is also
one of these apps which means if you want a basic Podcasts app you can use it,
some people like third-party apps like Downcast or Overcast which are probably
the two most mentioned apps both on this list and also in Podcasts like the
Today in iOS Podcast. I think Overcast is now free, Downcast I think is a
couple of Dollars. I always used to like Downcast, but at one point started
using Apple’s Podcasts app which is already on the iPhone as it does the trick
for what I do. I have maybe 6 or 8 Podcasts I subscribe to and to which I
listen to on a more or less regular bases. One thing I like with Podcast is the
fact that it integrates with SIRI. This means I can say “Play the latest
episode of the Today in iOS Podcast or while a Podcast is playing and there is
a section which doesn’t interest me I can bring up SIRI and say “Skip 2 minutes
and 30 seconds or even skip 7 minutes. Of course Podcast apps have buttons to
skip by various time intervals, but by using SIRI I can make it any time
interval I want from saying to rewind 8 seconds if I just missed something to
whatever I want.

Subject: Latest iTunes

I've been downloading podcasts with iTunes since the last version of 11 and
versions up to the latest update. As far as I can tell, Apple has made it
impossible now to download podcasts without considerably more discomfort. I
cannot find a way to collapse and expand particular podcasts for convenience of
getting from show to show and now the dates of the shows are harder to find.
Where I used to be able to get the latest several numbers of the Blind Bargains
shows for a couple of weeks and dump them on a card for playing on a stream,
they no longer show up show by show. If there's a way to rearrange this, I'll
be happy to hear it.
Good luck.

Re: Latest ITunes with IPhone 6

2015-10-30 Thread Shai
Hi,
Another item you might try is to have your iPhone screen unlocked if
you have a passcode. In my experience, I found that iTunes would not
sync despite the fact that it was set to trust my computer and Windows
made the sound that my phone was recognized.
I had this issue before on the 5s and since then keep my 6s this way
and notice that all is fine when I go to sync.

RE: Latest ITunes with IPhone 6

2015-10-30 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Don,

Did you just install Windows 10? If so, you may have to have your iPhone Trust
the computer, again.

There are several things that may not be working correctly depending upon how
you upgraded to Windows 10.

The first thing I recommend, however, is to try to connect using a different
USB cable. I know it sounds far-fetched, but give it a try, before you
reinstall iTunes. Also, should you decide to reinstall iTunes, as Apple
recommends, be certain to remove all of the Apple components from your PC,
first. While this is not absolutely necessary, I have found it yields the best
results.

Good Luck,

Mark

Wondered if anyone has any problems or issues syncing their IPhone 6 etc. with
the latest ITunes as can’t figure out why am not able to do so using the proper
usb cable like have done in the past as ITunes doesn’t even recognize my phone
when connected via usb and the usb ports work just fine as am able to know it’s
connected by the windows 10 sound that alert me and can print from the usb
ports too. So can’t figure out what’s causing this. So unless someone has an
answer might uninstall and reinstall ITunes over the weekend to see if fixes
the problem.
Thanks.

2015-04-13 Thread Christopher Chaltain

It would help knowing what operating system and screen reader you're using.

Using NVDA on my Windows 7 system, I tap the space bar on the albums
button. In the dialog that pops up, I can tab over to a list and then I
can arrow up and down to select songs, albums, artists and so on. Once
an option is selected you can continue tabbing to set the sort options.
Just back tab to the list and hit enter on the view you want to close
the dialog and bring up the desired view.

Hello, everyone. Last night I installed the latest version of iTunes, and it
seems to work much better with JAWS. I have the latest version of JAWS on a
Windows 7 computer. I don't know if all of iTunes' features work, but the
radio tuner now works flawlessly, as it did before. I hope this is helpful
to some.

Thanks.

Re: latest itunes and playlist sync problem

2014-10-12 Thread Russ Kiehne
Here’s what I do.

after cconnecting the ipod touch and before arrowing down to devices I do the
following:
in the file menu, arrow down to library and press enter.
In the library menu arrow down to import playlist and press enter.
Now you get the option to browse to the playlist you want to import.
Select the playlist you want to import and press enter.

Subject: latest itunes and playlist sync problem

Hello list
How does one sync playlist with the latest itunes? In the past I created the
playlist on the pc, connected my ipod, downarrow to devices and then tab and
select music and then I tabbed to selected playlists and checked that and on
the list of playlists I checked what to download to my ipod and then tabbed to
apply and enter. Now when I select music and tab I just get the capacity of the
ipod, info about the music and free space but nothing about the list of
playlists. Has something changed in the latest itunes?
Regards
Fanus
