OS9 fits on 1 x CD . I would not know why you have 3 x CD's.

Your message above is not clear whether you tried double clicking on

The OS9 operating system on the CD is likely an abbreviated version,

not enough for what you want.

Do you have another Mac around that you can use which has OS9 on it ?
Can you connect the 2 together Target Disk mode via Firewire ?

What tools do you have at your disposal DVDSP? If so will import direct.

I use a program called DropDv for demuxing mpeg 1 or 2 to DV which I
do believe iDvD will handle if part 1 is not an option.

Mailing List Etiquette

2005-05-22 Thread David Watkins

Hi

I really enjoy picking up tips and leraning from the many people who
contribute to the list. However, in recent times that it is extremely
difficult sometimes to find a couple of lines of text some one has
replied with amongst maybe a hundred lines of quoted text. Below are
a few tips which I've taken from the Usenet Mailing List Etiquette
FAQ which you may consider adopting.

Dave Watkins

=

Taken from the Usenet Mailing List Etiquette FAQ
http://www.gweep.ca/~edmonds/usenet/ml-etiquette.html

When replying, should I quote the previous message?

Most certainly. You should always provide some context to your
replies so that people who may not have been following the thread
closely, or who have other things on their minds will easily be able
to determine what you're talking about.

However, when quoting, be very careful to edit the quoted sections
down to the bare minimum of text needed to maintain the context for
your reply. There is very little on a mailing list that is more
annoying than paging through a few pages of quoted text only to read
a few lines at the end. Also be careful that you clearly indicate
what text you're quoting (as opposed to what you're writing), and if
possible, cite the author of the original text.

If your mail program wants to attach the whole message you're
replying to on the end of your replies, please do not let it do this
if you can possibly avoid it. It is a good thing to include excerpts
from previous messages with your replies to maintain a logical flow
of discussion, but it is almost always a bad thing to include the
entire text of a message being replied to, be it at the start or end
of your reply.

Hi Tom,

The Quicktime MPEG1 is a Muxed file you need to demux it.

If you have Toast Titanium 6, you can export the MPEG1 to Quicktime
PAL-DV format, frame rate 25,

Audio 48kHz, 720 x 576

Then import the PAL-DV (.dv) into a iDVD Project and save it as a
Disc Image.

Then burn a DVD of the Disk Image using Toast 6.

The DVD will then play on TV.

Cheers,

Unfortunately Quicktime doesn't understand multiplexed audio tracks in
either MPEG-1 or MPEG-2. This is one option I have been waiting for with
the last several iterations of Quicktime - and they still haven't fixed it.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]&%*&^*&[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Even if you buy Apple's MPEG-2 Playback component (or get it with FCP or
DVDSP) QT still won't work with muxed audio to allow conversion to other
formats.

One workaround is to use MPEG STreamClip, a piece of freeware that allows
you to de-multiplex audio as well as convert AC3 audio to formats Quicktime
understands (and if you have Apple's MPEG-2 component it allows many
conversions to and from various formats of MPEG-2) amongst other features.
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/24055

Very frustrating we still have to stuff around like this with MPEG files.

Definitely SPAM. eBay don't have a Billing Department as they aren't
involved in transactions. Also you can bid on different machines in
different locations so of course the IP wanders and bids are made from
different ones. 'Offline', yet online verification...hmm Says it all

If you're ever worried about the veracity of such e-mails, open up
your browser and type in the url of e-bay or pay pal or your bank and
log in normally. Do *not* use the URL sent to you in the email (as it

Hi all,

I am looking for an application that can manipulation data files.
What I want is something that can sort text into fields and records,
and add tabs and carriage returns. I have had a look on version
tracker but I did not find what I was looking for. Can anyone
recommend a program which does what I want?

Thanks.

BBEdit is good for working with text files, but to do anything
complex requires knowledge of regular expressions (a piece of unix
arcana). Of course once you know regular expressions you can do
pretty much anything

Also, there really needs to be a simple rule for working out where
those tabs and carriage returns should go (ie what's a field and
what's a record). If you can't work it out then it's unlikely the
computer can either :)

If you examine the URL you will notice it points to an IP address rather
than a qualified domain name. I had one last night that was pointing at a

set up a user on my power book. Now I have 2. One which has virtually
nothing in it which is my new users; and one which is a copy of my old
one. Unfortunately when I log in as the old user I can't download any
files (dmg, rtf etc) Just get a message "can't create files" but works
Ok with the new user. Up to this point I was just going to delete the
new user, but now I don't know. Any ideas?

H!

Does your new user have the same name as the old user ?

How did you copy ?

At a guess it is a permissions thing !

You can copy a " user " files to a new drive using Superduper .
It will work identically.

Depends on what you need ! Microsoft Office Excel will do some sorting
