Hi All, I am having trouble deleting the deleted items from my Desk top Trash bin. I receive a message: There are locked items in the trash do you want to delete the locked items, When I request that all items be deleted the deleting starts but after 2 or 3 seconds the rubbish deleting comes to a stop. I remember a while ago that someone else had a problem with mail deletion but can't find the resolution. Any suggestions please?? Re: Erasing Trash.
Hi Tony, Either, Select the files that are locked - then Go to File Get Info (or by pressing 'Command-I keyboard combination) and deselect the item's Locked checkbox (the little padlock) you will be asked for your administrator password. Then Empty the Trash. Or try: Press and hold the mouse button on the Trash icon in the Dock. The contextual menu for Trash will display. Press and hold the Option key or the Shift-Option keyboard combination, Select Empty Trash from the contextual menu for Trash. Release the keys pressed and held in step 2. Re: Vault File for 1Password ?
Yes it's a risk Peter. I balance that risk out by using a combination of Time Machine and Super Duper backing up to two separate disks on a daily and weekly basis, and the perceived benefits of using random passwords across all my logins against the risk of only ever using a few passwords across all the logins and risking them all being hacked if one is hacked. How realistic that risk is unknown really, but I do appreciate how 1Password makes logging in so easy. I will probably continue to sit comfortably until I have a crisis such as Stephen did. Re: Vault File for 1Password ?
Yes Peter highly praises 1Password, as I also do most of us do! ;-) /quote from one of Peter's responses to list way back on 26 April 2012 If 1Password were simply a password protector it would still come highly recommended, but it goes much further than that. It is also an excellent repository for all your software licence codes/serial numbers, credit card details, passport details, etc, all nicely tucked away in a secure environment which can be synced across all your devices. It also allows information like credit card details to be used to autofill forms in web browsers. It's an indispensable tool. /End Quote Cheers, Ronni Sent from Ronni's iPad4 On 14 Oct 2013, at 10:10 am, Tim Law t...@peoplehelp.com.au wrote: Oh yes, so it could be! ooops Apologies to Peter if I have misconstrued your message. Re: Vault File for 1Password ?
I must be a complete dope using AppCleaner for this one. I followed the instructions for installing and setting up 1Password 4 first. Then the final instruction was to uninstall 1Password 3 Extension first and then delete 1Password 3 itself. D ! Fortunately (because of my trusting nature) I keep all my passwords on paper in a very secure place. So I have now re-entered them all into 1Password 4 and linked the logins again. The annoying part is that I also lost all my software license info. It is all around somewhere but not as organised as my passwords, so no huge problem. I now have 1Password 4 syncing with iCloud so it is backed up. But every so often I get a message saying that 1Password backup failed. But this does not refer to iCloud. It seems to refer to an on the Mac backup It states in the 1Password user guide that these backups are automatic but does not say how to turn them off. Any ideas re this please ? Itunes not responding
I've got a problem with iTunes since my last (iTunes) update. 27 iMac, 2.8GHz Core I7, OSX 10.6.8 running iTunes 11.1.1 I seem to remember that on first running iTunes after the 11.1.1 update some dialogue box came up - but I had also started iTunes downloading some app upgrades including a large one I didn't want to proceed so I tried to stop that before dealing with the dialogue box - which I then lost :o( I don't really remember exactly how all this went down - but I mention it as it may well be the source of my current problem: Which is that iTunes is not working - I can start it up and it seems to start OK but if I leave it running (without actually doing anything in iTunes) it seems to quickly lock up and activity monitor shows it as Not Responding - Quit process does not work but Force quit does. I opened iTunes again and then immediately switched to Activity monitor to watch it - and all seemed fine - after about 4 minutes I switched back to iTunes (just clicked the iTunes window) and iTunes immediately went to the spinning beachball and Not responding. I force quit again and restarted iTunes but then very quickly quit it - to see if a normal quit would smooth things out - but still iTunes starts OK but locks up within a minute or so. I opened console, cleared the display, and then restarted iTunes and watched the messages - when there were no more I went back to iTunes (which immediately locked) and force quit. Re: Itunes not responding
Hi Neil, Have you tried rebooting your Mac and rebooting your Router? If that doesn't help: Try starting iTunes in Safe Mode. 1. Hold down Command+Option when you open iTunes (this will open in Safe Mode) Does the freeze still occur? 2. Long into another user account and test. See whether the freeze occurs in another User Account.
