Re: [WAMUG} WAMUG general meeting

2021-08-03 Thread Graeme Winters
I am going to assume that the proposed meeting has be abandoned and hope that
the problems can be fixed for next month.
Is there any assistance that can be provided to ease the load that appears to
be with Maureen?

Re: Photos

2018-11-21 Thread Graeme Winters
Hi Bill
I have recently been scanning old photos and wanted to do the same thing.
The closest I have come as follows
Once you select the photo you wish to name, try a right click and this brings
up Get Info which allows you to add some description. That at least retains
some information for you
Likewise when you identify say a photo scanned taken in 1992 if you go to Image
and select Adjust time and date, this will allow you to correct the date and
place your photo in the correct date order.
I took that a little further by opening a series of folders date 1992 etc and
dragged a copy of the photo in question from the Import screen into that folder.

Not perfect but I have disposed of a lot old unwanted photos that would have
gone in the bin at the end of the day

Regards

Graeme

Re: Software to edit PDF files

2018-05-06 Thread Graeme Winters
Yes Brian and Philippe,
Peter H has over the years shown us many useful hints and he and others in the
group are continuing to do so.
In recent meetings at Willetton we heard about
invaluable tips on scanning,
on the use of a wireless Connect drive to gain access while interstate
to documents on your home system
and last month a great demonstration on how to gain more use from using
Notes.

The agenda circulated really does not do justice to the valuable information
provided each and every month through attendance.

As I said at the last meeting I have rarely gone home after a meeting without
gaining something of value.

You are right, you are missing out on a lot of goodies!!

Reader view

2018-03-23 Thread Graeme Winters
In recent times I have changed viewing my subscription to The Australian
Newspaper through Chrome rather than Safari and this now works fine every time
I access this site, however when using Safari I was able to make use of the
Reader Function to create a printer friendly copy of articles.

I am unable to find a similar Reader option using Chrome.

I would prefer to use this function in order to remove the advertising content
for printing.
Is it possible?
Would appreciate some help

Re: Download and upload speeds best carrier

2017-10-02 Thread Graeme Winters
Hi Ronni

I am linked to a FTTP service with IPrimus and they advise me that my speed
results are within the accepted range which is up to 12 Mbps.
I am currently on a plan that provides 300 Bg of data at $69.90 pm
IPrimus did offer me another plan at $90 pm with speeds of 25/5 Mbps but on
reflection I find that extra $20 pm hard to justify given the current usage.
I have a cable rated Cat 5E.
Would it make any difference if I swapped this to a Cat 6?

When my contract with IPrimus expires I will ask a lot more questions of other
providers but having said that when I inquired with IPrimus I found there
online chat service excellent. With my hearing loss it was much easier than
talking to someone in the Phillipines

My grandson living in Willetton tells me that the speed available at his home
is only 2.2 down and 1 Up so he regards my results as great.
Results from others has made interesting reading
Many thanks again for your input Ronni

Download and upload speeds

2017-10-01 Thread Graeme Winters
I ran a test this week using Speedtest.app following my download of High Sierra
not that I thought the speed would improve by reason of the latest download but
I thought that
the speeds reflected by my test may be useful for comparison with members in
other areas.
I accept that the speed recorded was that at the time of the test but
comparisons may be helpful

I live in the Mt Pleasant area and have had the NBN for over 12 months
My recorded speeds were as follows

Ping2ms
Download11.1 Mbps
Upload 2.47 Mbps

Are these details of interest to members?

Re: High Sierra

2017-09-29 Thread Graeme Winters
Hi Ronni
After you queried whether my keyboard was recognised among Hardware I tried my
keyboard attached via a USB to a friend’s Mac Book Pro and the keyboard
functioned perfectly.
I opted for the extended keyboard rather than the smaller version that was
wireless.
However not sure what has changed other than my keyboard is now working
perfectly.
I have tried the keyboard attached to my iMac direct and via the Belkin and now
works fine
My model is iMac 15,1

Thank you for your assistance again Ronni

My IMac 27 is a late 2014 model and the keyboard came with this complete with
USB connector which I had assumed was version 2.0 or later

The keyboard is not recognised no matter whether plugged into the hub or direct
to the IMac

The keyboard is not shown under Hardware

Re: High Sierra

2017-09-28 Thread Graeme Winters
I did the High Sierra update last night also and it ran very smoothly
However I am now unable to use my keyboard.
My keyboard is connected to my IMac 27 via USB to a Belkin hub
I have tried connecting the keyboard directly to my IMac 27 and everything
appeared to be correctly connected to power.

Any thoughts on why the keyboard is not recognised

U Tube video

2017-09-22 Thread Graeme Winters
Sorry my earlier email contained an image which should not have been sent.
Content now shown below
I would like some assistance and guidance on the following

I created a video last year and posted this onto Utube and now find that I am
unable to open this and instead receive the message as follows

“ Your browser does not currently recognise any of the video formats available.
Click here to visit our frequently asked questions about HTML5 video "

However I have downloaded Chrome and when I searched for this same video I was
able to watch it in full. It is about 24 minutes long but I cannot watch this
using Safari

The video is simply a collection of photographs taken some 60 years ago and was
a useful reminder at our Reunions

I am using an IMac 27 and Sierra 10.12.6

Any thoughts

look to Faces

I have over 200 identified faces displayed.
Question: is there a way in which these faces can be sorted say by first name
or surname?

2014-11-05 Thread Graeme Winters
Prior to my upgrade to Yosemite I had available while using Safari, the option
of converting say text from the Australian Newspaper to a format which removed
any advertising material.
To do this I used an app called READER which sat at the top right of my Safari
page

Is this Reader app available yet with Yosemite?/

I do see in one review of Yosemite called the verge the following comment
“ Safari’s Reader button has been moved to the left, thankfully distant from
the page-refresh button, and there’s a condensed “add” button for bookmarks and
your reading list.”

Has anyone used Reader since the upgrade?

Mail Preferences Viewing was ticked

I had tried accessing Gmail via Google and reading her email however
difficulties finding passwords prevented this initially
Part of the issue was I think her miserable 5 Gb download with Bigpond
With some extra assistance from a helpful grandson the problem is now resolved
Yes we tried resending the message to her from www.gmail.com and this worked
fine this time

Thank you for your prompt assistance

Mail behaviour

2014-09-11 Thread Graeme Winters
Could someone suggest a solution to recent strange behaviour with incoming mail

My wife's sister using an IMac 24 running Mountain Lion has recently setup a
gmail account of her own following the death of her husband who operated a
bigpond account

She had been sending and receiving emails using her new email address through
her Mail account for some weeks when last Monday she received two email
addressed to her gmail account both of which contained a series of photographs
Instead of images the messages were entirely a series of characters

Both of these sets of photographs were png images.

I also received one of these emails and was able to view the images on my IMac
27 running Mavericks

I am not aware of any Preferences or Settings being changed

Can anyone suggest why these images were converted to characters

I have done so and it works fine

However if that cannot be cured you have provided an easy solution

Re: Back up not working

2012-03-08 Thread Graeme Winters
Hi to all those who offered assistance

1 Have now updated my version of Deja Vu to the latest i.e. 4.1.1

2 Have now swapped my 2 drives around and connected what was my 2nd
Backup drive which has 2 Firewire connections direct to the IMac via an 800 FW
cable

3 Have now connected my original Time Machine drive ( which only had 1 FW
socket )via FW 800 from the other drive. Both drives are now connected using
FW800 cables in a daisy chain configuration

4 Have also gone into Terminal and checked the Perl interpreter and this
produced a Hello World message

Ran backup using Deja Vu and all went well except for the following error
message on the Deja Vu log

*** THE FOLLOWING ERRORS WERE DETECTED ***

rsync:
readlink_stat("/Users/graemewinters/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/launchd_2011-12-21-100216_Graeme-Winterss-iMac.crash")
 failed: Invalid argument (22)

I feel as though much progress has been made but would now like some guidance
on this error message

Again my thanks for the assistance.
We have a wonderful Mac community

Back up not working

2012-03-06 Thread Graeme Winters

Back up not working

I have in place a 2 Tb WD drive as my Time Machine
Attached to this is a 1 TB WD drive and using Deja Vu I have set up a further
or 2nd Back up that takes place at 5.15 am daily

Deja Vu provides me with a message each morning that Back up has been completed
and this has been occurring.

A recent check of the content of the 2nd Back up shows that recent documents
are not being backed up at all

The error message set out below is the last on the Deja Vu log this morning.

sh: /Library/PreferencePanes/DejaVu.prefPane/Contents/Resources/psync:
/usr/bin/perl5.8.9: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

Does anyone recognise or understand the meaning of the error message?

Can anyone assist with a solution??

Apple TV

2011-11-22 Thread Graeme Winters
I recently added Apple TV and am now able to watch slideshows ex IPhoto on a
larger screen

That works fine however I recently downloaded The Lion King from the ITunes
store to my IMac and have that copy sitting in my ITunes/Movies screen and can
watch this film on my IMac

On turning to my larger screen in the next room when I switch to Apple TV/ My
Library all of the same slideshows appear under Movies but not The Lion King.
It is also not shown under any other screen in Apple TV

I have Home Sharing switched ON

As the copy of the Lion King is a legitimate copy i.e. not a Bali version I
have eliminated any compatibility issue

My grandson who solves many of my problems is puzzled as is the Apple Shop

Can anyone cast any light on this issue?

Re: One to One account

2011-03-28 Thread Graeme Winters
I have been away and missed some of the earlier posts on this issue.

I purchased my IMac in Dec 2009 from Next Byte ( before I met Daniel )
And I took a One to One membership at the Apple shop in Hay Street in Feb 2011
They knew I had not purchased my system from them so they appear to bend the
rules

Re: a scanning issue

2011-01-23 Thread Graeme Winters

Hi Gary

Thankyou for your helpful comments on this issue
In this case I am happy with the importing and dealing with images once
imported as well.

It is the sets of scans from old film photos that are/were the problem.
I think that I have now found a solution by using IMovie and the many features
therein rather than trying to deal with them in IPhoto

Once again my thanks for your comments

a scanning issue

2011-01-19 Thread Graeme Winters

My current project is to convert a selection of photos taken on film back in
1989 and produce a DVD/slideshow of this holiday for viewing on a TV set

So far I have scanned the old photos in sets of 3 and have created 41 sets of
these shots as separate jpg files

I have given each of the groups of 3 a name to identify the locality in which
the photos were taken and dropped them all into I Photo

So far this has given me 41 slides to the slide show but I have lost the titles
allocated to each group

Can someone point me in the right direction to achieve my objective?

I also have a collection of old transparencies taken back in the 1960/70s and
am looking to achieve the same aim after I have scanned a selection of them. I
have the scanner

I have I Photo 11 Version 9.1.1 and I Movie 11 Version 9.0.1 installed.

I too have had battery trouble with the magic mouse
Recent visit to the new Apple agent in Myaree told me that some battery makes

Since switching to Apple supplied rechargeable batteries the problem does not

Re: Genealogy software

2010-10-22 Thread Graeme Winters

Hi Lloyd

I had been using Family Tree Maker for Windows for some time and earlier this
year changed over to Reunion for Mac
No doubt in my mind Reunion is much better
Have no experience with Macfamily

At that time of my changeover , most on the list who had been using FT
packages were also of the view that Reunion was top of the list

Re: iPod Battery Replacement

Hi Joe

You raise an interesting issue re batteries.

I faced this recently with a mobile and ended up in a heated debate as to
whether original manufacturers Vs generic were best

Battery World have a large selection but my choice from them of a generic for a
Motorola mobile was a mistake

Re: Reunion software package

2010-09-08 Thread Graeme Winters
Hi Ronni
Sorry I had not come back earlier. You have no idea how quickly the day/weeks
fill up when retired

I do not fully understand your reply.

I have tried/experimented with the formats of both Pedigree and cascading
pedigree charts and do see value in both of these.

In the second part of your reply you said
Pull down the menu, Create then click on Pedigree chart
Choose how many generations you want to show on the chart. Am
happy on all of that

What followed is the part I did not understand

Then pull the Tree menu---to orientation
You will have a choice of Waterfall, left to right etc

I could not find those headings. Could you please expand or clarify for for me?

Cheers

Re: Reunion software package

2010-08-25 Thread Graeme Winters
Thank you for your comment Stephen
I was using Family Tree Maker 2006 prior to August 2010 but was torn between
persevering with this old package, updating FTM or switching to Reunion.
I made the change after only a brief test and am yet to really get to try the
many options available
Several reasons why I chose Reunion
Our Winters genealogy web site is run by a cousin in UK who is also using
Reunion so I felt the transfer of my data to him via a box file would make
things easier at his end
Our current web site caters for 4 branches of the family to date and am looking
to increase the branches to 10 with my local data
FTM is not designed for the Mac although it may be in the future

With all this activity it is just as well I am in the retired category

Thanks again Stephen

Reunion software package

2010-08-25 Thread Graeme Winters

Is there anyone within the WAMUG group using Reunion for Mac
This is a family tree package designed specifically for the Mac

My current issue is this
Having entered data for some 7 families or over 650 names, I then opted to
print a pedigree chart for my youngest grandchild
This printed chart covers 7 generations and when printed covers 12 A4 sheets.
In this format the chart is quite readable although it could be reduced in size
a little.
I then taped and joined the 12 pages into an impressive chart , however the
joins were not good and I had to do much trimming to make the chart at all
reasonable in appearance.

Thinking that I could get a better job done by Office Works ( whose printing
costs seem to be better than most ) Office Works were unable to open the
.boxchart file

I then tried saving this as a pdf file but the system would only allow a
pdf.boxchart suffix
Again the printer could not open the file

When I come to print a descendants chart I see that I will have the same
problem. Again this will be up to 7 generations but the chart will spread both
north and south as well as east and west

Does anyone have any experience with Reunion?

Gmail

2010-07-26 Thread Graeme Winters

I recently changed my Password for my Gmail account and since then am unable to
receive any Gmail messages. That does mean a break from list messages too!

A symbol similar to an Exclamation Mark has appeared within a triangle along
side my Mail box Gmail name and Gmail has greyed over

I have right clicked on the symbol and clicked on Take Gmail on line
Have tried Mailbox and online status shows Gmail as being off line
Have tried Mailbox and put all on line

I can access my email from Gmail via the Google site but would prefer not to
use this source. I have 10 waiting

Can anyone suggest what I need to do to correct this

I have not tried using my notebook on Rottnest but if internet access is

There used to be a public access terminal at the office for internet users but

Re: Another great Preview tip

2010-05-07 Thread Graeme Winters

Sorry about that Mac
My intention , as a new WAMUG member was to let all List members know just
what they are missing by not attending these sessions at Curtin
Peter and others go to a great deal of trouble to try and create a programme
that will appeal to our members and I believe he does a good job

It is always going to be hard to pitch the topics at a level to suit all
members but again as a new member I find the Curtin sessions an interesting and
informative forum and wonder why more do not attend

We are very fortunate to have Curtin as a venue and even more fortunate to have
a dedicated group who give freely of their time to promote Mac education

Re: Mouse battery level indicator stays on 61%

2010-04-19 Thread Graeme Winters

I agree with your comments on the cut down keyboard Peter
I realised that when I bought my IMac late last year and asked for a full
keyboard with numeric pad because I do a fair amount of data entry
That was provided for me at no extra cost
I have the original keyboard available if anyone wants it
I have also invested in another mouse as the MM gave so much trouble

I Photo Query

2010-03-30 Thread Graeme Winters

Can someone provide me with an answer to a problem I have encountered when
enlarging photos on the screen in both Events and Photos

I down loaded a series of photos a week ago from 2 cameras and subsequently
thinned these out by hiding or deleting selected photos

I wanted to view some of these photos tonight and found that several of the
photos selected enlarge to the full screen size for a moment then this was
replaced by a large black exclamation mark within a circle. This symbol filled
the screen
Does not look good

This same result occurred with several other selected events but not all frames
selected for enlargement resulted in the exclamation mark
I am using an IMAC 27 V 10.6.3

Re: Inkjet cheap ink

2010-03-08 Thread Graeme Winters

RIHAC continuous ink system

Following the meeting earlier this year I took the step of buying the rihac
continuous ink supply system as a means of reducing the cost of genuine or
refilled cartridges.
To say that the continuous ink system is complicated is an understatement.
The manual is quite comprehensive and if there is any criticism of this it
would be that the diagrams and pictures showing the various parts etc are not
quite as clear as you may expect

To connect to this system you must remove the small gold chips at the base of
each original ink cartridge and fit this to the corresponding colour of the set
with the kit.
The positioning of these chips is critical as is fitting the chip to the
correct colour.
I spent 50 minutes on the phone with Sam a senior technician with rihac last
Friday trying various things in order to make the system work.
Sam then offered to send me a completely new kit with the chips fitted and this
arrived Monday morning early
This fix did not allow me to print so again I spent almost an hour on the phone
with Sam doing head cleans etc until we tried a restart and after several test
prints I finally achieved a good quality copy

The saga is over and I am now able to print again
When I next need ink I will order 100ml bottles from rihac and these will cost
$13 plus postage for 100 ml

I cannot comment on the quality of the ink so far but I would reckon that I
have about 12 to 18 months supply with the system now. The ink may last longer
that the printer itself

Although I did encounter many problems during the set up stage the service and
phone support by Sam at RIHAC was first class.
Perhaps some of the problems were were related to my advanced age but the
support provided by Sam really was very good

Thought that this may be of interest to other users

Re: Time Machine

2010-02-23 Thread Graeme Winters
Thanks John

The issue with this drive is strange
When I open Time Machine , the time and date of the last back up is shown but
at the NEXT backup line the words shown are When the drive is
connected
If I switch the drive off at the unit and then on again and enter a password
and the drive comes to life and starts backing up

I am missing the automatic feature of the TM

Time Machine

2010-02-20 Thread Graeme Winters

Trouble with Time Machine

In December 2009 I purchased my IMac 27” 3.06Ghz/4GB/1TB/HD

With this I purchased a WD My Book Mac Edition 1TB

All was assembled and ran fine until last week when a message bar appeared
telling me that Back up could not be completed

I have tried to date

Disk Repair and received the following messages

Invalid node structure

Invalid record count

Missing thread record

Bad parent directory

Missing directory record

Incorrect flag for directory

The Volume could not be opened after 3 attempts

Error Disk Utility cannot repair this disk

Verify stopped

My book corrupt

Tried repair again

I have disconnected the WD several times and started again doing a back up

Each time when I go to Time Machine at the options window the message is

Next Backup when disk connected

At Select Disk no disk is shown

This was the case again at 3.00pm today

However when I switched the WD off and on again the back up appeared and
acknowledged that the next backup would occur shortly

Surely I should not have to manually activate the backup
What have I missed?

As an aside does Time Machine when working also back up my Windows work as well
ie MYOB files

IINET have a 24/7 call centre and they live in Hay Street Subiaco
I find them quite easy to contact and if a queue of callers they invite you to

Yes they do have some in call centre with foreign accents that makes it hard

Hi Neil
It is now very interesting that you raise this as after the fix I could print

I had not expected that.
I guess it is not really a problem as generally I will only be in Windows when

Re: HP 5380 all in one printer

2010-01-26 Thread Graeme Winters

Hi Peter
Thank you again for your assistance. For new users this forum is most helpful
I did go into Configure and the Printer rectangle showed Default
I changed this to C5300 Series but this has not made any difference. The
printer is enabled and connected
I still cannot print in Windows mode

Strange thing is that my initial query with the forum and HP was that I could
not scan but in the early stages I could print within Windows
Many changes have been made at the direction of HP and I feel that there is
something that has been changed that is now proving to be a barrier to me now

When I go into Control Panel> Printers I have the printer connected to LPT1
The Printer shown is the C5300 Series
Software is installed and all showing but this is a result of installing the HP
software as the system did not recognise the printer when connected
I may need you to come over and assist me on site.
Are you available for house calls??

Re: HP 5380 all in one printer

2010-01-25 Thread Graeme Winters

Hi Neil
I have tried your suggestion and installed the Bonjour package
Bonjour is now available at the Start menu in Windows
When I go into the Bonjour Wizard there is no printer available

I have tried going into Add/Remove and done a repair but still no luck
The HP is shared
Have I missed a step?

HP 5380 all in one printer

2010-01-25 Thread Graeme Winters

Some time ago I listed a problem with this printer scanner in that I could not
scan at all.

For over 2 weeks I have been exchanging emails with HP Support trying various
fixes to allow me to print while in Windows
The position is this

I can now print and also scan while using any Apple function

When I switch to use MYOB running in Windows I am unable to print at any report
So far I have I have tried all the moves suggested by HP and the New Hardware
indicator has not appeared. My email exchange with HP is now out to 8 pages
long when printed

When I purchased this Imac 27 I obtained the Parallels package as I wished to
continue using MYOB despite it being a MYOB for Windows package
I can use MYOB but still cannot print a report from MYOB
All of the HP software and drivers deemed necessary have been downloaded

When I now go through Control Panel in Windows > Printers the HP 5300 series is
not shown. So I guess I cannot expect it to print
The printer USB connection has been removed and reconnected but Windows did not
acknowledge the printer and when connection is attempted manually the HP
installed ie the 5300 series is not listed

HP have now suggested that the problem is with Windows not theirs

Has anyone else had this problem running Windows within the Mac

Have I missed something or is this a Windows problem?

I am using Microsoft Word within Apple
I would like the return address on the top left of the envelope
I would prefer not to go down the label track as I guess I am used to using the

Retention of records

2010-01-07 Thread Graeme Winters

I have been working on family history on and off now for about 40 years and
more recently have been looking at the question of the preservation of
historical records and yet have the ability to have access to these same
records in the future.

I was referred to an article on this subject of the preservation of digital
documents athttp://www.clir.org/pubs/archives/ensuring.pdf

Paper is called Ensuring the longevity of digital information by Jeff Rothenberg

This paper looks into the future and considers how we may be looking at records
in say 50 years time.
that is would there be an operating system available ( other than in a museum )
that could accept a CD of the year 2010

I believe that the present CD is currently being phased out by manufacturers
and being replaced by other media.

I raise this issue relating to CDs as a circular came to me recently from a
professional photographer who reported that images he placed on a KODAK Gold cd
in 2002 have now disappeared.
The photographer recommended that users try a product called PRODISC that is
regarded as good for between 50 and 300 years.

Not sure how that has been tested but I found it a issue of concern that images
committed to CD could be lost in such a short time

As to the family history this means we cannot ignore the need to place written
copies in strategic places so that future generations have ready access
That is based on the assumption that in a couple of 100 years we will still be
speaking English in Australia. I hope so

Were others aware that CDs had this limited life span

I attempted to use an address similar to that currently being used but received
an error message that I should only use letters between a-z, numbers between

I was not told the address selected was not available just to use letters and
numbers as above.

That I have done several times using variations including numbers with

Hi David
You raise an interesting point with gmail

I have been a long standing iinet user and while I do not have a problem with
them I just feel that separating my ISP from my email may be in my best
interests in the longer term
I use their voip system so my calls are bundled with my internet service

Do others see a benefit in separating the 2 functions?

keyboard

2009-12-29 Thread Graeme Winters

When I took delivery of my 27 IMAC in December I asked for the Parallels
package to be installed as I had MYOB for Windows software and as Treasurer for
a small NFP organisation I wanted to continue providing this service

Because MYOB involves a good deal of data entry I asked for the extended
keyboard and the supplier threw this in for me at no extra cost.

MYOB works fine except that when I come to enter numbers using the extended
numeric pad this key pad does not function. I find I must use the row of
numbers across the top of the keyboard

The extended part of the keyboard operates fine at all other times.

In windows you have NUM LOCK key but not in Apple

This implies that the problem is one related to MYOB but not sure
Can anyone guide me?

Apart from that I have a wireless keyboard surplus to requirements. Can anyone
use this?

Safari query

2009-12-27 Thread Graeme Winters

Help
Again as a very new IMac user I am asking what is probably a silly question

But during the course of using Safari I used to have a line beneath the web
address that allowed me to navigate between earlier web pages.
This line incorporated an arrow that allowed me to go back one page at a time
Since this line disappeared I find I have to go back through Google and start
again
There must be a shorter method and I suspect I have deleted a function that I
cannot now retrieve

Can anyone help?

iPhoto

2009-12-21 Thread Graeme Winters

Greetings to all

As a very recent Imac user I transferred all of My Photos from my PC to the new
Mac using a Belkin Switch to Cable system and everything appears to have come
across.
I had many years of photos on my old PC and the transfer took some time
I had over a 100 folders including many from a recent trip to Europe. These
most recent photos were taken on a Canon and a Fuji.

The Canon downloaded all pictures neatly into folders according to the date
the photo was taken whereas the Fuji did not and I then sorted each Fuji
download into folders according to the town or place we visited over 70 days.
There was nearly 9Gb of photos from this recent trip

Curious thing now is that a great number of My Pictures have ended up in Photos
and the rest in Events
It does appear as though the Mac may have decided that if the folder was the
name of a person then those photos went into Photos and if the folder was
named say by a location then this lot went into Events. This was not the case
in 100% of cases but simply a guess on my part at the moment

Those photos now in Photos appear also to be sorted by the date the photo was
taken.

Result is of course that in trying to create a DVD the search is quite difficult

Not sure where to go next
If I could transfer all the Events group into Photos I may at least have these
then sorted by date which would be a help

Next time I think we will just use one camera rather than 2

Re: iiNet BOB router

2009-12-20 Thread Graeme Winters

Hi Walter

I attended a seminar recently put on by IINET designed to further promote BOB
It was my hope that I could combine my existing modem and telephone into one
unit

BOB does not incorporate an answering machine that is currently a part of my
telephone system

I think that your suggestion that IINET are seeking to have more control over
the connection is probably right

IINET certainly provide a good service but since attending this seminar have
thought more than ever to separate my email address from my ISP
