Bernard Fox/Malcolm Merriweather
Hello Mayberrians, Tonight, I was watching one of TAGS color episodes (I actually like the black whites better). I saw Malcolm Merriweather again. He was so funny and so was Earnest T. Bass. Can anyone tell me how many times did Bernard's character appear on TAGS? I have not seen all of TAGS episodes, but I think Bernard may have been on at least three times. 1st time---Andy's English Valet 2nd time--Cannot remember the episode, but it was a black and white episode 3rd time--he was in this color episode I just saw I guess all of these appearances were preparing him for what was perhaps his best role ---Dr. Bombay (sp) on Bewitched. Andy at his angriest
Hello Fellow Mayberrians, I think tonight's episode where Goober dismantles a car and brings it into the courthouse was the angriest I have ever seen Andy. When Andy tells Goober he would shoot him, I said, Geesh. But, of course, Goober, Gomer and several other characters were quite agravating at times so, in some ways, I understood when Andy got so irritated. lol Just my lil' ol' t wo cents. Rafe Hollister Sings
Hey again, Mayberrians! I was watching Rafe Hollister Sings. I am not sure if that was his real voice or not, but the singing sounds great. On the song That Lonesome Road (I guess that of the song..lol,) Rafe sounds a little bit like Elvis Presley. As you know, Elvis could really sing some great gospel songs. The Darlings Are Coming
Hey Mayberrians! Today, if anyone were to ask me about The Darlings on TAGS, I would have to say there were a cross between The Beverly Hillbillies and Hee Haw! I really enjoyed their first appearance on TAGS. Color Episodes vs Black and White Episodes
Hi Mayberrians, I know this has been discussed far too many times, but I had to say something now that my local tv is showing all the color episodes back to back.I love the black and white episodes best. In my opinion, there is just something about those first few seasons. Everyone seems so down home and so humble and just plain funny. I simply can't get enough of them. On the other hand, when I see the color episodes, they aren't as funny, but everyone does looks nice in colorlol. And in the color episodes, things seem more sophisticated and it sometimes reminds me of a regular 70's sitcom. And, of course, my dear Barney Fife is missing, too. ThereI knew there was a reason why I loved the black and whites better. Lake Loon
Hi Mayberrians! Last night my son and I were watching the fun episode where Andy, Gomer, Barney, and Opie and his friends go camping. Remember that one? Since Barney and Gomer had gotten lost out in the woods, Andy finds Gomer first, and then tells him that he will hoot like a lake loon so that Gomer and Barney can somehow find their way back to camp. My question is, does a lake loon really exist? If so, where are they found. lol Have a Mayberry Day. wearing the same clothes
Hi Mayberrians! Yes, I agree with the person who said that when Opie wore the same clothes over and over again, it really seemed like he was just a normal kid. Even at my age, I wear my clothes many times again (after they're warshed, of course..lol) and it's just fine with me. I really love TAGS a lot. Take care and have a wonderful weekend. Gomer
Hi Mayberrians, Last night, my son and I were watching the episode where Andy saves Gomer's life. Remember that episode where Barney was away on vacation and it was just Andy in the office? Anyway, just imagine if someone whose life you saved would never let you forget your great deed. Imagine if they kept finding ways to do things for you and they never stopped praising your name. Yes, I would be okay that the person thanked me, but if they bothered me about it that much, I would probably go and hide from them...lol... I am sure my son probably try to avoid them just to escape the embarrassment. Actually I think Andy played it best when he faked the gas inhalation to make it seem like Gomer saved his life. Gomer, Gomer, Gomer... Have a nice day, Val ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Modern Day Mayberry Towns
Hi Mayberrians, Not sure if this has ever been mentioned before, but I would like to know if any of you are aware of any modern Mayberry-like towns where there is a sherriff who is kind of similar to Andy, and where there are nice, downhome folks who really love and care for one another. I know we live in a society and world where it is virtually impossible to find something like Mayberry, but there just might be a few humble towns still out there where there is almost no crime, and where folks are really as nice as they can to be. I live in the deep south, and sadly, the southern hospitality is fading. I heard that there is a town in Lousiana that may be Mayberry-like. Not sure though. CLASS REUNION
Hi Mayberrians! For some reason, Class Reunion was, at first, the most difficult episode to get into. However, I now have a different opinion. Just watching Andy and that lady sit outside and talk about why they didn't make it made me think of how special high school friends really were. These were the people who knew you before you encountered all the problems of the real world. Also, watching Class Renuion made me think about my own 20th Class Reunion which will probably take place this year. Not sure if I will attend or if it would even be worth attending. Have any of you been to any of your class reunions? If you did, briefly tell what was the most memorable thing about it. Did you see old boyfriends/girlfriends? I guess I can say that Class Reunion is becomming one of my favorite episodes. I have watched this episode at least 3 times in the past week or two. Happy New Year, Mayberrians!
Hi All! I, too, just wanted to take this time to wish you and your families a happy and safe New Year, 2007. It has been a pleasure getting to know your thoughts about TAGS. Sensitive Topic: To Spank or Not To Spank?
Hi Fellow Mayberrians! Tonight I was watching an episode where Opie's new friend was so used to having his way, and as a result, he usually got what he wanted from his old man. He then taught Opie what to say and how to act up in order to get his way. But, of course, Andy didn't fall for it. By now you know the episode, right? The little boy disobeys the law by riding his bike on the sidewalk even after Barney told him not to do it again. after he disobeyed again, Both Barney and Andy decide to take the bike away from the kid. Later in the show, the little boy's father shows up to get the bike back from Andy. To the little boy's surprise, the father decides to take Andy's advice and take the little boy out to the woodshed and give him a spanking. How do you feel about this? Of course, I do understand that most of us really love the TAGS so much, but in today's society we may not always agree with certain things they did back then. I am a newbe here at TAGSRC, so if this has been discussed before or if you are too sensitive about this, please do not respond. Not looking for a debate, just a simple opinion. The Darlings Are Coming
Hi Mayberians, In The Darlings are Coming, there is a scene where Charlene is chasing Andy around the office. Andy jumps over the banister (I think that is what it is called...lol) and then he says, Charlene, I am old enough to be your father! Then Charlene utters something. I cannot understand what her response was even after I viewed that episode several times over. Can someone tell me what Charlene said to Andy after he told her he was old enough to be her father? Also, I saw on a later episode, when the Darlings returned, that she had divorced Dudd. Why did she divorce Dudd? Too bad because I felt that mostly marriages would have survived during that time. Didn't she still have the hots for Andy? I think she did. Name that episode.
Hi Mayberrians! Someone please tell me that name of that episode where Bee had apparently met herself a fella. She had on her cute false eyelashes and looked so cute. That was the first time I ever saw her all gussied up. I just recalled glancing at the episode once, and I saw Aunt Bee all dressed up with her lashes on as if she were going out on a date. Not sure is she was actually going out on a date or just trying to empress this fella that had come to town. Thanks. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
The Big House
Another great episode was The Big House. For some strange reason, I have watched that one numerous times. It would have been so funny if they could have had a part 2 and a part 3. If the bad guys could have actually gotten away and sent Andy Griffith and Gomer on a wild goose chase, it would have been so funny. Do you think Gomer and Andy would have been able to catch those 4 city slick fellas? Perhaps Andy would have had to go back to the jail and unlock Barney and those 2 policemen so he could have more help. Poor Barney, eventhough he messes things up so much, Andy was always there so he wouldn't look so silly. Let me know your thoughts. Happy AGS Day! High Noon In Mayberry
Hi, One of my favorite TAGS episodes is High Noon In Mayberry. I have a question about Luke Comstock, the guy who is coming back to Mayberry to 'set things straight with Andy. What was his real name and was he a famous actor, or boxer, etc? Have a Happy AGS Day! The Darlings Are Coming
THE DARLINGS ARE COMING..I have watched and re-watched this great episodes so many times. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I discovered that the man who played Brisco Darling was actually Denver Pyle, the beloved Uncle Jessie from The Dukes Of Hazzard. I was so shocked! I wonder could he really jug in real life like he did no this episode. I guess that was my first taste of blue grass music. They are can really play, can't they? Anyone heard anything recently about the lady who played Charlene? I did go to a website to look for info on THE DILLIARDS (that was the real name for the Darlings) and I think some of the guys are still living. Great musicians. One of my favorite lines from The Darlings episodes was what Brisco told Andy while they were in front of the horse's trough.she's promised so don't go making any fancies for her and ...just see that it don't or something like that...lol Sincerely, Valerie ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
