I added those links to the wiki page.

Agreed that for bright full sun conversions based on an assumed spectral
distribution are not ridiculous.

It would be really interesting if someone with both kinds of sensors
(both high quality!) were to post a scatter plot of one vs the other.
I expect good agreement about 500 W/m^2, and much less by the time one
gets to 100 W/m^2. But I am just guessing.

Yeah, I agree conversion is not the best way to obtain the solar radiation
value.
Lux is all Acurite provides us.

I found several places where the sunlight-specific conversion value of of
1/126.7 (or 0.00789) was referenced, so I went with that.

2021-05-18 Thread gjr80
Normal operation. You (or something) told WeeWX to shutdown. WeeWX did as
it was told and you received a lot of debug output in the log since you
have debug > 0. It can be safely ignored in this case. If it troubles you
set debug = 0.

If there was an error or some other problem the tone/wording of the log
entries would be different.

Re: [weewx-user] want to use lux value to calculate value for 'radiation'

2021-05-18 Thread 'Rainer Lang' via weewx-user

in the [StdCalibrate] [[Corrections]] stanza in weewx.conf add the line

radiation = luminosity/126.7 if luminosity is not None else None

Then the calculated value will be stored as radiation in the database
and you can use it in your reports/skins

I've been searching the weewx documentation for details and examples
of how to create a data value from a calculation. This calculated

It looks like the StdWXCalculate section of the weewx.conf file is
the place to do this?

Is that correct?

I've been looking for an example of the StdWXCalculate section
showing how a user-created formula is included, and I have not found one.

Can someone show an example of including a user-created formula?

Help appreciated.

[weewx-user] Wrong rain values in weewx from WS EFWS2900

2021-05-18 Thread dohna...@gmail.com
Hi.
I have a problem with wrong rain values show in weewx and in web interface
(ecowitt.net) of my WS EFWS 2900

.
Rain for last few days (ecowitt X weewx values):
13/5 - 35,6 X 23,4 mm
14/5 - 13,2 X 3,4 mm
16/5 - 11,9 X 5,6 mm
17/5 - 3,3 X 2,5 mm
I know, that ecowitt values
are correct, because are same as on display of my WS.

I absolutely dont understand, why the different is every day different. I
think, its not the problem of wrong unit. Weirnd is, that weewx values are
still smaller then real values.

Please, can you help me, where should be a problem?

Here is my skin.conf (using belchertown skin):
https://justpaste.it/8hi7a

graphs.conf
https://justpaste.it/2ds1z

and weewx.conf
https://justpaste.it/205zp

and small piece of my weewx.log

Re: [weewx-user] Re: Volunteer translators needed!

2021-05-18 Thread Vetti52
I did some tracing back. Now I think, that the history report stanza in
skin.conf was introduced by the alltime module. Not sure yet. The beaufort
texts might be a result of a copy/paste action from a source, I found
somewhere here in the forum, ages ago
BTW, in index.html.tmpl, where the history report belongs to, the part needs translations also, which seem not
to be covered by the en.conf file. But maybe, this was another place, where
the alltime module introduced some text.
Somewhen I started to translate everything into German, that I found to be
presented as text on the web site. I found it in weewx.conf,
index.html.tmpl, skin.conf, all forecast and alltime related files. I did
not look at where these labels came from in original. Anyway, now I know
about them, in case updates will mess up with my translations.

But you have a good source for your de.conf file already. So there is no
need that I contribute that part.

Re: [weewx-user] Re: Volunteer translators needed!

2021-05-18 Thread Tom Keffer
Thanks.

Where does [HistoryReport] come from? It's not part of anything in WeeWX
that I can tell.

Same with the Beaufort texts.

And, I agree, converting a skin is a right pain.

 What we ask people for is to translate the file en.conf attached to
 the initial post. Could you think to do that?

 I guess it would be no good idea if we try to pull the greek words out
 of your repository without knowing anything about the greek language. That
 would not work.

Re: [weewx-user] Re: Volunteer translators needed!

2021-05-18 Thread Vetti52
I found an entry in skin.conf missing in en.conf:
For German:
[HistoryReport]
monthnames = Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, Mai, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Okt, Nov, Dez

and some translations for Beaufort as text version would also be helpful.
Here is my german version, used in current.inc:
#if $varExists('day.windSpeed') and $current.windSpeed.raw is not None
  #if $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 0
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Windstille'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 1
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Leiser Zug'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw  == 2
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Leichte Brise'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 3
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Schwache Brise'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 4
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Mäßige Brise'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 5
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Frische Brise'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 6
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Starker Wind'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 7
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Steifer Wind'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 8
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Stürmischer Wind'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 9
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Sturm'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 10
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Schwerer Sturm'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 11
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Orkanartiger Sturm'
  #elif $current.windSpeed.beaufort.raw == 12
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'Orkan'
  #else
#set $word_current_beaufort = 'N/A'
  #end if

And, well, the modules, I have in use, alltime seasons and forecast, which
have their own extra labelling text built in, are always a pain to keep
them uptodate with seasons skin. Adopting all kind of those modules to the
new version might be laborious and take some time. Sigh...

Re: [weewx-user] YEAR Tab graph dates

2021-05-18 Thread Vetti52
I just tried this little trick with month_images too and changed it to
%d.%m. And, yes, after restarting weewx, it worked! Nice!!! However,
year_images
was not changed. There is a little typo in Rick's post, needs to be %y
instead of y%. But, still no success. So, I had a look into the web site
files and realized, that the year images are only created at midnight. So I
will wait until tomorrow to see, what happened.

Basically you have to do some combination of putting your data into a
form that can be ingested by an existing driver, or creating a driver
that will ingest the data in some other form.

I too am in the "MQTT is the right answer". You can easily run a broker
on the Pi, or you can run it on whatever machine you are going to run
weewx on. Then you can use MQTTSubscribe which I am 95%+ sure supports
being a driver (rather than a service).

Probably you want to put json with everything from the csv into a topic,
but you may just want separate topics. Read the MQTTSubscribe info to
figure out what it wants and write the data in that format.

Also, once you have MQTT, you may want to do home automation or
something else, and then that will be able to read weather information.

Overall, I think the fastest path to success, with you writing the least
code, where success means things are 100% reliable, is writing the
sensors into MQTT and using MQTTSubscribe. At least that's what I
would do.

I have a bunch of ESP8266 with sensors all sending data in MQTT, read by
Home Assistant. weewx uses the Davis driver and then publishes every
archive interval to MQTT. So in weewx I just see weather, and in Home
Assistant I see weather and various indoor temps, battery voltage, etc.
