[WISPA] FS - Orthogon Gemini Lite Pair
I have a client that purchased these units about 6 years ago. They have served him well, but no longer needs them. They are the Gemini Lite units, rated @ 22Mbps NLOS. He paid over $7k for them, but looking for reasonable offers. Anyone interested can hit me off-list. Thanks, Gary. Re: [WISPA] PowerBridge 5M
We saw similar problems with the ports locked at 100/FDX - Set everything to Auto and speeds were there. I posted that on the UBNT Forum, but never got an answer -Gary- - Original Message - From: Steve Barnes To: Ubiquiti Users Group ; WISPA General List Sent: Tuesday, September 07, 2010 6:44 PM Subject: [WISPA] PowerBridge 5M I changed out a StarOS backhaul with a pair of PowerBridge 5M radios, 4 mile link. I Have an odd issue. The link is perfect 130MB 99% Airmax. UBNT Speed test from radio to radio is 84Mb. Now the interesting issue, both radios are plugged in to MT 493AH 4.11 OS. Running MT Bandwidth test from MT to MT TCP speeds are horrible. 14 Mb Dn and 6 Mb Upload. We tried all kinds of tests finally realized (after the climber was on the ground and in my office) that if I do a speed test from the PowerBridge station to a Rocket plugged into the same Mikrotik that I get 14 Mb x 6 Mb through a 100% wired connection (UBNT to Port-2 MT, Port-6 to UBNT Rocket) We had tried different ports to no avail and I test from MT AP thru MT 493AH to 2nd MT AP and I got 50 Mb x 50Mb. Then I realized that 2 hops across the wireless link I had a NanoBridge. A test to that across the wireless side of the link gave me a 30 Mb x 35Mb. So it come down to a single PowerBridge radio that either has a bad ethernet port or a bad POE/cable between the UBNT and MT, or some kind of incompatibility between the MT and PowerBridge. All ports are set to 100Mb FDX not Auto negotiate. This MT 493AH is relatively new with Gig option. When running speed test there are no ethernet errors or packet errors on the MT. What else can I check from the ground. Unit is 250 ft up and requires a climber I don’t have daily access to. Will the PowerBridge 5M work with 12-15 Volt. I know it wants 24VDC I don’t currently have that on this tower but had no issue with others on different towers at 12 V Steve Barnes RC-WiFi Wireless Internet Service -- WISPA Wants You! We've done most of the city of Mansfield, Ohio using Firetide Mesh radios. Rock Solid system. You're welcome to contact me about what we're doing with it. As far as pricing - My experience has been, if you offer it too cheap to a municipality (Government people..) they assume it's not good, and won't even consider you. I've seen some of the idiots in my city pay $125 an hour for a "Consultant" to tell them the same thing that I said for free... Re: [WISPA] no net but ping works
This problem seems similar to the issue we had recently. We originally had all of our (bridged) radios on a 10.0.x.x network with a Class B Subnet (255.255.0.0) - Started seeing real weird issues with the new gear we were deploying - Tranzeo / UBNT had same problems. Clients would just drop off for a while. Changed that particular link to a Class C (255.255.255.0) and the problems stopped. Still bridged / Still on a 10.0.x.x IP Scheme. Something odd in the bridge tables, or arp tables in those radios. Re: [WISPA] I NEED HELP also!!!
I'm very impressed with them. When Mid Ohio Sports Car Course opted to NOT pay anything for last weekends event. (Bandwidth needs..) Basically cut the $$ in half We decided to use the Ubiquiti NanoBridges 5m units. 3 hops to get there - They tested at 70 Mbps both directions. The long link was 5+ miles. While the Indy guys were broadcasting HD video over them, I was watching a sustained 8 - 10 meg coming from the track. At the same time, they were pulling 10 - 18 meg the other way. This went on for most of the 4 days they were online - The units never even burped, much less hiccup'd :-) I ran the latest firmware (Not Beta) and set them up for optimal throughput. Now we're looking at putting them to work for our backhaul / expansion links. -Gary- - Original Message - From: Kurt Fankhauser To: 'WISPA General List' Sent: Monday, August 09, 2010 3:46 PM Subject: Re: [WISPA] I NEED HELP also!!! Re: [WISPA] Tranzeo - Again.....
We swapped everything.. We can log into all of the radios consistently, they're all on our 10.0.100.X subnet. No IP conflicts - we moved them around to be sure. The ARP table on the CPE radio only lists the local router, and the router on the other end of the bridge. -Gary- - Original Message - From: "Stuart Pierce" To: "WISPA General List" Sent: Monday, May 03, 2010 7:19 PM Subject: Re: [WISPA] Tranzeo - Again. > You've swapped ethernet cables as well ? CPE is in Bridge mode - Yes it's at the Clients location (to a Router) We seem to be able to always connect to the AP / CPE on the 10.0.100.x Subnet - Even while dropping pings / connectivity @ the Clients location. -Gary- - Original Message - From: "Josh Luthman" To: "WISPA General List" Sent: Monday, May 03, 2010 5:09 PM Subject: Re: [WISPA] Tranzeo - Again. [WISPA] Tranzeo - Again.....
Hey all, I've got what appears to me to be a dumb question, but I'm all out of good answers right now. We've got mostly all Alvarion stuff on our WISP Network - All bridged, including the backhauls. The entire network is addressed @ 10.0.100.x for management / monitoring purposes, and has been running fine. (Our Public IP address space is 98.100.x.x) We recently added a Tranzeo AP, and (1) client at a new POP - Addressed them into our 10.0.100.x Network and set the client up. Signal is great, but we've had nothing but problems at this location. It will run for a short while, then drop off, then come back, etc. (And on, and on..) While testing we discovered we can ping the 10.0.100.x address, and / or stay logged onto the radio consistently, but the Router on the Public IP drops off. We've swapped Radios / Routers / Switches / Etc. - The only constant is the Tranzeo link. (The Client at the POP that we're broadcasting from work flawlessly - It's a Ubiquity Bridge Link.) There's the scenario, here's the question. Is there a problem with me addressing the Tranzeo Radios in the 10.0.100.x? Arp Table problems? -Gary- WISPA Wants You! Re: [WISPA] Speaking of Tranzeo......
Well, it's fixed. Turned out to be the Cat5 wire between the CPE and Radio. (The only part we didn't touch / install.) That part was "subbed" out to a local and very reputable cabling company. Never had a problem with their work, so we didn't question it. That, and it worked ok for hours at a time. Weird Now, back to our regularly scheduled emergencies. -Gary- WISPA Wants You! Tried the "Hotfix" firmware 4.0.5 - No improvement. Does anyone have the older 3.x firmware they can send me? The Radio is a TR-SL2-15. I can't find anywhere to download the real old firmware. Re: [WISPA] Speaking of Tranzeo......
It was one of those "pick something" type deals for our expansion. I liked the look / price of the Ubiquity stuff, but hearing complaints about short supply and firmware issues regarding such a new product prompted the decision to go with the Tranzeo stuff. That, and a couple of my closest WISP associates are also using it helped. I figured we could help each other out in case of emergency. In addition, the pricing cuts helped as well - Looking at sub $100 for a CPE is great compared the Alvarion stuff. Now, if we can get this "moving data" issue resolved, I can move this thing forward. The biggest problem is, this is a long time client that moved to a new building in an area we've been trying to get to. We get the POP setup and connect them, and this happens. Very frustrating. The good part is, it's a very understanding client. The bad part is, they're a financial institution and their patience is getting a little thin We did do the Hotfix / Firmware update last evening, so we'll see how it works out today. Thanks for all the suggestions / assistance. -Gary- KosiNet / King Office Service Inc. - Original Message - From: "Kurt Fankhauser" To: "'WISPA General List'" Sent: Thursday, April 01, 2010 12:35 AM Subject: Re: [WISPA] Speaking of Tranzeo.. >I have 350+ Tranzeo CPE's in the field. Different Router - Same mfg. Original (Worked with the Alvarion Radio for 2+ years) Netgear FVS318 - Installed a new Netgear FVS338 as a test piece today with the same results. The last thing today was to replace the POE splitter and patch cable to the Router. - Original Message - From: "Stuart Pierce" To: "WISPA General List" Sent: Wednesday, March 31, 2010 5:13 PM Subject: Re: [WISPA] Speaking of Tranzeo.. > Ok router swapped out for a different mfg ? Re: [WISPA] Speaking of Tranzeo......
This is not a water issue. New radio today, and it started acting up within 30 minutes. Our whole wireless network is "bridged" - we haven't seen issue like this with any other setup we have out there. The only component we haven't swapped out is the wire up to the radio. It's new construction, with a professionally installed outdoor Cat5 run to the radio. We did replace the ends today... -Gary- - Original Message - From: "Steve Barnes" To: "WISPA General List" Sent: Wednesday, March 31, 2010 4:12 PM Subject: Re: [WISPA] Speaking of Tranzeo.. > These guys always whine about Tranzeo's cover and seals. [WISPA] Speaking of Tranzeo......
We've been primarily an Alvarion WISP in the past, but decided to use higher speed / lower cost gear for our expansion. Went with the Tranzeo 2.4 stuff for a new POP recently. Connected our first Client out there. After we read all of the words and realized that Vertical Polarity was the "other" way, we now have great signal. :-) The problem is, we're losing Ethernet connectivity on the inside to the Router. About every 10-15 minutes, it drops off, then comes back on its own after about 5 minutes. We've replaced Radios, Cable Ends, Power Supply, Router, Changed IP Addresses - Still drops off. It's a TR-CPQ unit in bridged mode - Any time that the Router is "off-line", I can still access the Radio. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? -Gary- WISPA Wants You! Re: [WISPA] [Motorola II] OT: Barracuda Updates?
We're using a mix of ClamAV, and SpamAssassin for the most part. A good friend / ex-employee set ours up and it just runs. (Very well I might add) I also have (5) RBL list / blocks using our SonicWall at the Edge. The SonicWall alone blocks over 2 million a Month. Good solutions, in my opinion, but we still get some Spam coming through. But on the other hand, we haven't had a single complaint about losing / blocking good Email either. -Gary- - Original Message - From: "Chuck Hogg" To: "WISPA General List" Sent: Wednesday, March 24, 2010 6:54 PM Subject: Re: [WISPA] [Motorola II] OT: Barracuda Updates? The big thing about any spam solution is the ability to ³learn². Everynight we have SpamAssassin go out and download new rules from a couple of different sites. Between this and the Amavis updates it keeps on top of things quite well. Plus we also have greylisting on the higher hit servers as well as IP blacklists of known spammers. Most of these are APNIC ips. What many people fail to do is make sure their secondary MX is just as good as filtering spam as the primary is. Another tactic is to have a Mikrotik with some rules that say if you receive X amount of connections from a single IP to your mail server(s) block that IP for X amount of minutes. Re: [WISPA] OT: Barracuda Updates?
Unfortunately, probably not. One of the reasons we don't really push them anymore is their strict policies. (Such as you discovered.) We got stuck with a unit that was on an Eval, the customer went out of business shortly after we registered the unit to them. (Less than 90 days) Barracuda would not let us re-sell / re-register that unit to anyone else. (At least not without the large fees..) We're now using it for our Bandwidth Shaper. -Gary- - Original Message - From: "Gino Villarini" To: "WISPA General List" Sent: Tuesday, March 23, 2010 8:27 PM Subject: Re: [WISPA] OT: Barracuda Updates? > Can you help out? > > I got a 4 year old 300 unit, IIRC we bought it 2nd hand. [WISPA] High Speed Bridge Link
I'm looking for ideas / recommendations. I've got a Client with 2 buildings about 600 feet apart. Currently using Cat5 locked at 10Mbps - It's been working ok, but we need more speed. Fiber is probably the best bang for the buck, but I was wondering if there was anything wireless out there that I could compete with? They got a price of $3k to pull Fiber between buildings. Where I'm at it's Rock Solid - I'm on their Fiber Network, and getting 10+ Meg both ways for less than I was paying for my 2 Bonded T-1's. Re: [WISPA] Firetide....
Miss Ohio - Embarq / Now CenturyLink is a local Telco - they kick some big $$ to the City for these Events. Although, with the Firetide Setup, the City has shut off at least (6) T1's from them. Now that we've got a couple of years under our belt with this system, they're looking at expanding it. Snow Trails is out of our reach for wireless - I'm not sure what they're doing. - Original Message - From: "Stuart Pierce" To: "WISPA General List" Sent: Monday, January 11, 2010 10:39 PM Subject: Re: [WISPA] Firetide > Miss Ohio Festival and Snowtrails ( which ought to be loving the season ). > How's that system funded ? > > > ------ Original Message -- > From: "KosiNet Wireless" > Reply-To: WISPA General List > Date: Mon, 11 Jan 2010 22:16:30 -0500 > >>Mansfield, Ohio >> >>No Video yet, mostly running Internet surfing, Email, and Microsoft >>Terminal >>Services at the Fire Stations - Stoplight controllers all connect back to >>a >>single controller. >> >>-Gary- >> >>- Original Message - >>From: "Bob Moldashel" >>To: "WISPA General List" >>Sent: Monday, January 11, 2010 10:15 PM >>Subject: Re: [WISPA] Firetide. >> >> >>> What city?
