Well, if we are asking potentially stupid questions here...
I've heard that the final scratch records (what DO you call them?) have
more shallow grooves than normal records...does this mean you'd have to set
the tone arm differently for a final scratch set?

Looks like John is going to be in town tonite.
Will warn ya'll that the venue does enforce a

i've just listened first 20 minutes of this i have to say that he's
really boring. i mean why on earth he's playing this teen-angst
loop-techno. his mixing is great though.
(reminds me of days of overdrive and labworks and pcp hardcore from
early nineties, just cheesier. perhaps i'm too old
i felt the same about the mills peel session
his mixing sucks, although most people don't notice since he covers it with
the 3rd turntable

The Peel session had a nice live feal, there really isn't anything that
constitutes a major trainwreck in fact I found the track selection rather
enjoyable.

Absolute utter class!
One of the best House sets I've heard since I last saw TP
and Traxx in Germany and Jonny at Slices last year.
Before Osunlade got on the decks Simon Haggis laid
down some sweet tunes in the main room, and then it was
5 hours of dancing bliss for me (he played 6 but we left
Well.. I remember Dave Clarke Doin´a brilliant mix at I Love Techno
festival in ´98 (it was broadcasted on the radio). But recently his mixes
are not enjoyable anymore, not for me anyway.
Maybe the crowd has different demandings now?
And this observation is not only for Dave Clarke, ther are
Interesting, there seems to be plenty of variety in his recent top 10's.
His taste in music really doesn't follow the 313-list camp of labels like
Delsin hyped on this list.

There might be some variety in his top 10´s, but the mixes I heard from him
lately does not give that impression.

Jeff Mills has absolutely NO DJ skills.

I have yet to download the mix, slow connection.
The Wolf track he had out not too long ago sounded decent.

i dunno man, he's played SO long that he shouldn't be doing trainwrecks
in every mix in 1 hour mix :) i'd like to hear how he was back in the
day, like over 10 years ago, or late 80's :)
You wanna know how da wizzard was behind the decks?
Oh man he was an absolute genius..
I never heard

I've seen both rich hawtin and john acquaviva mix 3+ hours without an
audible mistake. beyond that, I dont know because I seldom stay longer than
3 hours at any event.
mills gets away with it because he drops the right tunes at the right times

I caught him in Detroit back in November and he is way up there on my list
to see live again. Everything was perfect, music was wonderful, and
everyone was getting down (a rarity in Detroit).

I actually really like the mills peel session mix a lot. Jeff was just here
in NYC a bit ago at arc and did a great job that evening as well. The
dave clarke deejayed in pittsburgh a couple years ago (i guess it
was december 1999) and really it was as boring a techno set as ive
ever heard. i left like 1 hour into it, i just wasnt feeling it at
all. and that was even back when i sort of liked harder techno
still, but just a little bit.

What's the probability that his apparent trainwrecks are a result of his
aging? He can't possibly be at the same performance level he was over 10
years ago.
He's now entering his 40s so I would presume that he's not going to be able
to be as quick as he used to be when he was when back in,
Maybe he just had an 'off' night... it happens to the best of 'em.
Also, I think someone like Mills would be a prime candidate for Tinnitus.
Let's hope that insipring dj's/producers like him wear some sort of ear
protection.
Peace,
Patrick.
