(313) Theo Parrish in Melbourne

2004-03-01 Thread Christopher Davey
Hi Matt Theo didn't quite made it to 6 hours; just a little over 5. An excellent set that wound its way between house, disco, techno, soul, r b, and stuff that fell between all those. I own about 5 of his mix cd's (and over 20 of his own releases), and still only recognised a handful of the

I go there all the time, I personally think it's one of the best nights in London. The music is always varied and interesting, the venue is really intimate and chilled out, the sound system rocks (it's basically held in a recording studio), and the crowd is probably one of the most funky and

The venue turned the lights on because they felt that they weren't making enough money at the bar. I know, I know. Didn't make sense to me, either. The promoters (from Melbourne) fought hard to stop it to no avail. They're in a bind, it's not their joint. It's not something we deal with in

While Saunderson was better than I expected, it didn't really blow me away and like a few other people I was a bit confused as to why Mills came on so late - which meant that I was getting unfairly impatient towards the end of Saunderson's set. It was effective and crowd-pleasing but nothing

I don't know if there's a point as such - it's a bit of a gimmick, really, that he used to try to build up anticipation/suspense in the crowd before he came on. But basically it's a product he's trying to sell and as I've said before I wouldn't mind at all if more DJs released DVDs like that;
