Hi Frank!
The first thing to do is check your network. The easiest way to do this is
by using FTP. The following command can be done from one AIX node to your
server:

ftp quit
This will give you a pretty good

Hi,
I was given the info that LTO1 drives are upgradable for ADIC1000 libraries.
The thing is that the drive itself( internally) gets swaped and the base (power

The cost for this would be 1/3 of a new drive.
The statement came from an ADIC sales

I doubt whether your procedure will work. TSM will not allow you to replace

that by running multiple sessions we can direct those same sessions each to

As far a I know - if the number of Moint Points for the client is 1 (or

Eric,
With Win2K, TSM supports replace on boot files.
So if you check the replace even if readonly in the client options,
TSM will restore those locked files.
WinNT will not do this.
That's why when you are restoring WinNT you put Windows in a different
directory, but with Win2K you don't.
At my company, we backup system objects a little differently. Instead of
letting TSM handle it, we have a precommand that backups the system state to a flat
file using NT Backup. Thus when doing a restore, I just reinstall the OS, tell it to
replace files on boot that it can't do
We have a discrepancy between what our 3494 library reports as inventory
and what is available to TSM.
After correlating the output of mtlib -l /dev/lmcp0 -qI and Q LIBV, we
came up with two volsers that show as present in the Library, but do not
show up in TSM.

not only do you save space in the TSM db, you avoid the problems associated with

My understanding of lto1/lto2 from our HP reps is . . ..
lto2 drives can:
- read and write lto1 tape
- but you do it at lto1 speed and density
- in other words, they act just like lto1 drives when you put in lto1
media
To get lto2 speed and density you need to use lto2 media.
