The D18 33kHz sonde worked great with the vSCAN. Even down to 15' which was
the deepest duct we needed to trace. What surprised me was the 512 sewer

The flushable beacons I have played with are pretty wide for 1.25” conduit. I
am sure the longer sondes will transmit a greater distance.

How close does the Sonde have to be to what the receiver is?
I have an existing Ditch Witch 150R receiver which says it works with 30kHz
sondes.
I am thinking about buying the Metrotech vScan which says it works

I have always felt null was more precise. But that is all I had back in 1978
when I was first learning about cable locating.

troublesome. We ended up buying two new RD7200 they were around $5k

I love my Metrotech. I have a bunch of Rycoms too as that is the first unit
I used when starting out 43 years ago but the Metrotech is very accurate on
depth.

USIC Uses radiodetection gear, currently they are using the RD-8200.
We just bought a couple RD-7200 new this year and they are very nice
units. Fiber will always locate better if you can attach to the locate
terminal on a splice case vs using the induction clamp FYI.
