I'd like to utilise the jacks of my ALC1150 HDA device as separate
stereo outputs.
I have a motherboard with onboard audio powered by the ALC1150 chipset.
The board has 5 stereo jacks (Green, Black, Orange, Pink, Blue), which

The short story:
My Storage Server / HTPC was getting a bit long in the tooth, so I
decided to update the distro from Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 Desktop.

In my hardware there is processor which will act as mixer so i wrote plug in
for ALSA to make processor as mixer for ALSA.
The plugin is in C++ as i m using qdus and generated shared library and copied
into /usr/lib/alsa-lib/.
My plugin name is Myplug.
when i use
amixer -D Myplug set PCM
Opening alsamixer shows the default, usb quickcam
I can change to SI7012 and there all sliders are up. Maybe the problem
lies how to define default. I have been looking for udev rules, for
asound.conf entries but to without positive results.

I just got an Hercules Fortissimo III soundcard and i'm trying to use
the IEC958 TOSLINK Output (optical out). I cannot get any sound on it,

hi to you all. i, too, have via8235 southbridge, ac97 codec, but i'm using
RH7.3 w/custom kernel 2.4.18. try running alsaconf script from tools or
utils dir of alsa source. that's the easiest way. it'll automatically
configure your card and modules.conf.

i am trying to get the terratec DMX 6Fire 24/96 card to work on linux using
alsa. the playback seems alright, but the Microphone In input doesn't work.
Is that because i misconfigured something, or are there problems with the
inputs on the DMX 6Fire? do the other analog inputs work?

modprobe snd-mixer-oss
as root on your system. Sometimes the oss emulation modules aren't
loaded automatically when /dev/dsp is accessed.

I recently bought a gigabyte GA-7VTXH mainboard, which provides an
onboard ct5880 sound chip.
This chip is said to be supported by the alsa snd-card-ens1371
module (The same chip seems to be found on some SoundBlaster 128 PCI
cards).

Searching the alsa-user list produces a lot of confusion about using our brilliant RME
digi 96/8 card in a multi-channel configuration. You seem to be the most successful,
