I have run ITSM 8.x in a VM (VMware Workstation) on a laptop with 8gb and 4
CPU. I was able to give the VM about 5.5gb for ram. Like Carl said it was
sluggish but once ARS got up and running/MT is cached it was suitable for

I don't know if there is any way around this other than to have the user

No need to go to base mode...stay in Best Practice mode, and convert the
object to Custom.
I the 'ideal' world...no, there is NEVER any reason to convert a custom
object you create to Base, because it's not BMC's object, so it doesn't
belong at that layer of things...in the real world I have

Best mode...I was talking about the unmodified form that was made in an earlier
version of Remedy Admin...that would be in Base mode (unmodified) and then from
what I understand I then go into Best Mode and convert t

deleting the overlay, you won't loose them...the only things you would
loose were base objects that were overlaid, but you wouldn't loose the
object, just the customizations that were done in the overlay.
