Hi Misi,
I'll try to regurgitate what was said to me from my Oracle DBA regarding
this exact situation. (Disclaimer: I'm not a real Oracle DBA...I just
play one on TV.) Also, it was shared with me about two years ago, so
there's a layer of dust on this memory.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought actions occurring with
escalations stay within the escalation thread (even filters, etc.) in
6.x and 7.x?
This negated the capability to have an escalation do a Set Field of
Delete = Yes, and then having a filter do the actual delete -- instead
of
The -f switch does do a flush of the data. (7.0 Config book, page 355)

Are you running arreload with the debug switch? (-d, I believe)...this

With that many records, it may indeed take a long while to complete.
I'd imagine you could shut ARS down, truncate the user_cache table, and

I was running some performance queries (inserting Panacea plug here ;))
and ran across a strange situation. Maybe someone's seen this before.
Basically, a select query is being sent to the DB when a Push Fields
action is being executed. The target for this push has 2.5 million rows

The AutoRestart may be built into the arserver routines: it simply ends the
process/program when the threshold is reached. Then, armonitor will restart it
automatically.

Don't mind me...I'm just standing in the corner blowing off steam...
I guess BMC's initial response SLA (which is published on their website

put in an issue on 11/15 (as severity 4-Low)...and have yet to receive

Hi Rabi,
Only 500? I had 300,000+. According to support, you can delete them
safely. There is a bug in the workflow that doesn't delete them after
process. (Sorry, I don't have the bug ID.)
The best I can describe is this form is it's a queue used for internal
actions... The application
through the KB, I think one problem I might be having
is a bunch of orphaned records in the Application Pending form.
Thanks,
Matt

We went through this exact change about two months ago. Our 60gig DB
went down to 13gig overnight after my DBA's rebuilt the tables with this
parameter. I can't see a reason why you wouldn't use this on an Oracle
database...(but then, I'm still pretty green to Oracle.)

Hi Matt,
I could see why the first scenario did that. It's the VB app that has a
handle on the called app, so when your app closes, so do all processes
spawned from it.
In the second...somethings missing and I can't place my finger on it,
but, to answer your question, according to the KB:

I encountered this problem too. It seems to originate from the Sync
Search DB functionality.
BMC Support says to delete the object* forms (and not set up the sync
search db). That fixed my problems without reinstalling.
I haven't tried to see if the fixed P004 allows it to run successfully
Hi Emad,
I've found that in SLM 7+, they've re-written how the records are
started. You should have a bunch of filters attached to HPD:Help Desk
that show the start, stop, pending, etc. If they aren't there, you can
regenerate them:
Go to the Application Admin Console, Custom Config, Service
I believe you need it if you want to consume other' published web
services...?

Hi Jarl,
I can't believe I'm responding at 2:30 in the morning (PDT).
In version 7, there's an option for the EmailDaemon.properties file to prevent
this from happening:

You might want to also include the Filter log..(perhaps combine the two
in a single log file). If an escalation updates a field, the filters
will fire. It won't record in the Escalation log...

If you think about it...system messages are less than 10,000. (i.e. 93

Workflow errors are above 10,000... BMC/Remedy wouldn't be able to keep
all their system and workflow errors below 10,000...(there aren't enough
numbers if they used a unique number for every error!) ha
Michael,
Are you manually releasing the license (through the Manage Users

If you're manually releasing, then I believe that is a fixed value by
BMC -- an administrator can only release a specific license so many
times per duration of

Hi Susan,
I've experienced these errors before, too, a long time ago: Signal 5
termination on a specific thread.
I was able to trace it back to a workflow problem, and with your jump
from 5.1.2 to 7.0, I'd imagine you might be in the same boat.
What I found was with the Run Process commands.
