I agree!!? I am getting tired of having to drive to Long Branch or Belmar for
any decent Seafood.? AP should really have a family style seafood restaurant.

Pretty amazing insight regarding this community's needs beyond the boardwalk
and retail areas.

Thanks to everyone on this board for the updates and keeping us all informed -
especially Oak for the blow by blow from the conference!? Sounds like
everything we have been waiting for and what Asbury should have had a long time
ago...? Someone's up there pulling some strings for AP!
BTW -
Could this be a new project?to replace their AP involvement?? Or do you think
this solidifies their commitment to NJ???

John,
I think you made a smart decision - being a seasoned investor in the NJ market
for over 12 years - I think AP is one of the best buy's in the Northeast.? One
mile of beach one hour from NYC.? I owned in Jersey City, Montclair, South
Orange and OG and wish I had the capital to put down
Glad you're back - 'porch'
The post's were getting boring here.

In the early 90's, when I lived in Hudson County, my wife and I would drive
to Monmouth County for the BEACH - it is only an hour away, but we would not
want to drive an hour back North if it looked like it was going to be nice
weather the next day (and risk dealing with traffic). We would

Are they keeping the clay tile roof on the power plant?

Let's all just call it the BCHP and accept the fact that we were wrong and

Thanks Werner!

IIt appears to me that the redevelopment plan wants no ties to AP's past,
and because they have slowly and painfully chipped away at the historic remains
to the point where they might as well plow down everything east and change
the name of the town.

Wouldn't it be nice if the historic lifeguard station was moved to AP beach
as a new boardwalk pavillion destinantion?? Oh, wait, I forgot - AP can't
maintain the historic structures they have - it would probably rot into the
ocean...

Werner,
Very good observation - I missed it originally.
My concern is that maybe it is intentional blight - as they did with the
Casino - let it fall into horrible disrepair and not adress the small
maintenance issues so that people forget how beautiful it once was and then a

Interesting to compare the reporting of this story to the one in AP...

FYI - I find it interesting to compare the other projects ie.Jersey City
condo's - and how similar the sites look compared to the developers in AP.
Also, curious why none of the AP developers are marketing here...

Thanks Charlie - very plain and sad looking bench lights are cold and
boring as well. Neither say anything on the history or feel of AP.

Overall observation from a realist
It is not just 'rich' people who are driving people out of Asbury and it
has nothing to do with race, but it is how a true 'free market' works. It
happens to elderly and middle class families too, but guess what - they have to
move and have little

Here is an interesting link showing the Belmont in a Historic Building
report I came across via Yahoo search. It shows the Belmont in daylight on
the first page. Very sad that we are losing these buidings and sadder
still that they were slated for demolition
