[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Musical Fidelity 3.24 DAC

2008-05-06 Thread svtcontour
Anyone know anything about this DAC? Someone is selling one in mint shape ...but it is kind of pricey at $550. I run my SB3 via the RCA outputs to my preamp and I find the sound quality of the outputs to be a little worse than my Yamaha CD player (SB3 volume at 100% during listening tests). I'm t

Unfortunately, popping sounds are still there. I have to turn the display off to enjoy the music. My hope is FW42 will do something about it. -- czhang czhang's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1678

Well, for me, the repeatable procedure is: update to fw40, listen the the knob degauss. But that's not very helpful to you, is it? I don't know if it's possible to put some debugging statements into a version of the firmware that would output diagnostic data on the external rs232, but I'd be h

I've switched back to fw37, but fw40 was definitely exhibiting the excess degaussing problem for me. At times, it seemed like it was doing the degaussing every 10 seconds or so. I'll be happy to switch back to fw40 or fw42 to help debug this, but I'll need some clues from you folks as to what to

Great to hear Sean! I loved the new features of fw40 but I couldn't use digital volume control so it's good to hear that a new version will be available with use of it now. Thanks alot!! -- xand1x Linksys WRT54G --> Slim Devices Transporter (Black) --> First Watt F1 --> AKG K1000 -

Firmware V.42 will be in the next nightly build. This fixes a significant reproducible bug, which was the problem with volume control breaking digital inputs while connected to SC. However, there are a couple other bugs which sound serious, but I can not reproduce: 1) Problems with sound not pl

I still have to complete my BNC / RCA test, though to be clear my interest was due to the drive circuitry in the transporter being capacitor coupled for the RCA socket and transformer coupled for the BNC socket. I didn't expect there to be any real difference because of the socket itself, althoug
