Going back to the OP's original question for a moment, Transporter owner
here and had that exact same question.
Spent quite a bit of time listening and comparing the different digital
outputs from the TP, so have direct experience which hopefully is of
help. :)

a nice chap is using his Transporter in his £ system as a digital
source.

Its not that the file is only playing hiss...the Transporter is unable
to play the file.

There's nothing connected to the world clock input on the back if the

I've called the tweaking a day till TT4 comes around.
TT3 except display and IR, with default Logitech priorities and tt -k.
Good enough to forget about tweaking and enjoy the music..well until a
fit n forget solution comes along, hopefully with TT4.
If not, happy with what I have.

Caiman user here...
tweaking the different SPDIF values changes the sound noticably,
particularly in bass depth and soundstage.
Settled on value of 48 for now, but doing some new diy mods to my Dac,
so will have a play again once my ears burn in with the new discreet
regulators :)
