I would check Audiogon for used gear like NAD or Arcam home theater
receivers. For new gear, I would check Outlaw Audio, extremely good
stuff for very reasonable prices. Once you have your amplification in
place, then think about adding speakers.

Have you heard of the Outlaw Audio brand of receivers? They are very
highly regarded on Audiogon at least, and they are very inexpensive for
what you get. I would go for one of those, or a used Arcam, or the $400
NAD integrated amp before I went with one of your choices.

Yeah but that doesn't allow for a CD player (unless you unplug the Touch
and plug in the CD player). If you need two inputs, you need some kind
of amp with at least that many. AudioEngine speakers are cool but only
one set of inputs!

I thought that was cheap for an amp plus a DAC! Of course, who knows how
it sounds, esp with ethernet cables for speaker cables.

to find a used Arcam that you can afford. MUCH better quality than
Denon etc.

If you are curious about a top notch CD player, try the Ayre. Incredible
