I bought this book and enjoyed reading the fictional characters' journey
from the Azores to Canada. I just thought with the holidays arriving, some
folks might want to have something new to read or buy it for someone you
know.
I've also just started his latest book 'Kicking the Sky' ...also fic

I ordered Jean Barman's book on Portuguese Joe Silvey even though he had no
relation to me. I found his story very interesting and wanted to read more
about his inter-racial marriages with Canadian Native women.

approximate year my great grandfather would have gone to California.
His name ..Jose Pimentel Andradeborn approx 1880-1882 in Agua
d'Alto Sao Miguel Azores...and went to work for a short time in

I was in Sao Miguel this August. Unfortunately all the family get
togethers and touring around the island didn't give me alot of time
to spend at the archives in the city. Connecting a bit with them was

Can someone please give me some guidance to using the microfilms? How
do you do it when you only have an idea of the years a person maybe be
born in. Looking for someone circa 1880 could mean looking at a few
books for years before and maybe even after I have already ordered
3 films and i fee

working on the family tree.
We are related on my mothers side but i thought i could help start her

I have decided to try and turn my focus onto my mom's side of the

I thought that if i wanted anything from the archives, i had to
actually go there physically. Would staff there search something for
you if you asked? And i suppose i should be sending Euro's to cover
the cost of the photocopy and the stamp. Have many people tried
