I'm no virtualization guru at all but in my one server setup I've found
that not receiving broadcasts at tcp/udp port 3483 was the culprit.
You can start the firestarter tool in ubuntu to manage it's firewall .
Just open the ports should do it in ubuntu.

Yes it was after an upgrade to some 7.4 sqlite beta.
sbs did not kill it directly, but the machine would not respond to any
other user intervention than pulling the plug so I had basically to
crash it to regain some control.
