Soaring over 25 King Street CCN this morning at 8:40am. Back in 2006 for several years my office was at CCN I saw the local Peregrine family often. Was happy to see one this morning! ___

Glad to report 1 GBH low over head Friday at 6pm headed for the Nests -rookery
on Leslie North of Elgin mills.
Interesting to see if the GBH relocate now that the lands are under home
construction..
The school yard is now locked down at night with a gate and no trespassing
sign.

Walking to the Car at 5:15pm at dusk, a small raptor flew over the Newkirk
entrance and headed south towards major Mac over the parking lot. Too small for
a Coopers or Sharp...Too big for a Kestrel (and colour not right). Leaves what
I believe to be a Merlin, my first sighting. The Tracks
I was just travelling north on the 404...Approximately 50 Turkey Vultures (?)
Kettling in circles at a very high altitude...if anyone is in the area have a
look...south of Steeles west of the 404...
Also a sharp-shinned over the 404 at Sheppard .

On the move Female. Rub throated Hummingbird just passed through my yard
stopping at the feeder. I normally have an early spring stop and late summer

8pm American Restart seen at Headwaters Community Park located at Redstone and
Princeton. The trail at that intersection takes you all the way up to Elgin
Mills at Eyer Homestead Park. The American Redstart was seen south of Eyer
Homestead where the trail goes over a shot board walk
Late post - Mill Pond at the Richmond Hill Winter Carnival today there was a
Red-headed Woodpecker among the many nuthatches. Seen on the south side of Mill
street behind the Food Tent jumping from tree to tree.
Mill Pond is on Mill St. closer to Bathurst than Yonge, just north of Major

of a very active variety of Warblers, Wood Duck Pair in full colours, hairy
Wood Pecker, possibly Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker (looked like a Downy with red on
the head).

in the trees for a week as seen on CTV new, captured and relocated, presumably
up at the Toronto Wildlife Center for observation.
Lots of Owls this fall, and I hope this guy hanging around Hwy 7 does not
become another victim...

until today. 40-50 American Robins mingling with as many Starlings. 1
Northern Mockingbird foraging the shrubs and bushes for berries, many Cardinals

sightings, I have seen them wintering in the Observatory lands where berries

Thought I would mention that a Great Blue Heron has been seen again today (saw
last Friday) from the GO train, on the Don River just north of Pottery Road.
Temperature outside was roughly -21c and snowing @ 8:30am, it was standing on
the ice shoreline.

River All Winter. Perhaps a sign that they are beginning to move. The
Richmond Hill Rookery remains silent, I expect action to pick up in 2 - 3 weeks.

Feeding frenzy the last 2 days at my birdfeeders. Finally attracted one male
common redpoll, and 6 females amongst the many American Goldfinches. Oddly have
not seen any dark-eyed Juncos in many days. The Common Redpolls are feeding
off the ground.

Today at noon what I believe is the Female Peregrine put on a show 15 stories
up at the corner of King Street and Melinda Court. She was having lunch on
the TD building which we have a great view out of our office tower. I am slowly
building interest with my co-workers as I had about 10
I missed a post a couple weeks back, Peregrine Falcon perched 15 stories up on
the TD Building King St W and Melinda Court. Perfect view from our office and
of course no camera.
Today they returned, 3 Peregrine Falcons soaring over King Street between
Commerce Court North and the Scotia
If any of the Richmond Hill locals are interested, the Yellow Warblers,
Baltimore Orioles, Red-winged Blackbirds, American Goldfinches, Common or
Caspian Terns (I can't tell the difference), White-throated sparrows, Song
sparrows along with an unidentified bird that popped out of the Beaver
2-Northern Flicker, 1-Eastern King Bird, numerous Double-breasted Cormorant,
1-Northern Mockingbird, first spotted as it flying, slow wing flaps and white
patches and 6-brown-headed cowbird seen this morning in the fog at Ross G Lord
Park following my sons riding at CARD.

Well thanks to the York Region tips this week, I took a drive up to Ravenshoe,
it was sunny and -13 this morning, add the howling winds and it was easily -20.
I would have seen nothing but blowing snow, if it were not for a chap setting

My GO train commute from Richmond Hill to Toronto has been a little more
interesting the last couple of mornings. I have seen what I am sure are
Black-crowned Night Heron's. Today there had to be easily a half-dozen perched
in the same tree which is on the East bank of the Don river

Hi Folks,
I had a window seat today on the GO trains Union Station to Richmond Hill Line.
The first spring bird I saw in 2007 was a King Fisher on the Don just south
of Pottery Road on Bayview Ave. Today some 9 months later, I saw, to my
surprise, a King Fisher in the exact same spot.
Friday, December 28,2007:
I started out my day at 8:30am walking the Dunlap Observatory in search of the
Barred Owl and Pine Grosbeaks. The birds were plentiful along the main
driveway, mostly black-capped chickadees and still high in the trees. I
