my cousin is offering me a sorta used ipad 2 because his daughter is spending more time surfing on it then doing homework after a month he is selling it. He said I can install all the book readers on it, she has one installed all ready. its a 16g/wifi model.

Can the ipad run all 3 big book store ebook formats? You have kindle format, nook format and the eobo or whatever borders uses..? I think there are only two formats. The kindle format and epub for everyone else. There is a kindle app that you can download for the iPad. I believe it is free.

He says trying to get files from your computer to the iPad is a pain. I have found that the easiest method is to install the dropbox app. Then, copy the file you want on your ipod into the dropbox folder on a pc. Open the dropbox app, click on file and you can choose what to open the file

hard to beat. The biggest thing the Kindle has going for it is price. I personally can't see buying a Kindle DX over a tablet...unless you expect to be doing most of your reading outside where sunlight becomes an issue. Then the Kindle has it all OVER the iPad. --- Mary Jo
