You get most of Builder by installing Builder. The "Express" edition
is free these days. There are a handful of things you don't get in the
paid version. Most notable, to me, would be remote debugging, but if
you are primarily doing local development and debugging, it isn't a
big deal.

You an get about 85% of builder by downloading and installing the
Aptana community studio and CF Eclipse.

Actually the most recent upgrade to OSX went very smoothly, no real
conflicts or massive problems. Except for one issue, CF stopped
working. It turned out to be 2 things, Apple removing the web sharing
control in the Share Panel. And they also upgraded the installed
version of Apache. Unfortunatel
Yeah, but I always like new news. Versions change, app upgrade, and
experiences may be different today than they were a year ago. :) Once I get
rolling though, I'll search through them again.

Also for lightweight editing I use TextWrangler (the free cousin of
BBEdit). It has CF, JS and HTML syntax highlighting etc.

I've been able to tweak my Eclipse instance so that it runs very fast
now on my mac. Like a lot of stuff based on open source projects, they
work great once you've finished tweaking them. Unfortunately no one
ever has a detailed tweaking guide for most of them.

Builder has a CF-Studio like (emphasis on like btw) RDS and sql editor

There are a bunch of quick text changes you can make to some of the eclipse

But you do know that both Apache and MySQL are already installed on the Mac?
I use a VM mostly for working with SQL Server when that is required.

I run both (two separate instances) on my Mac Pro, but I haven't
noticed any stability differences. As for speed it depends, I've
really optimized Eclipse. But given the cost of CFBuilder, go with
CFEclipse, combine it with the Aptana community studio and you have
about 95% of builder.

Thanks for the suggestion. It turned out that my subversion
information for one of my projects had become corrupted. I just wiped

I have 6 different versions installed. It seems like everytime I use a tool,
each tool runs best on a different version (rarely the latest!). Anyway, try
using 1.4.2_03 or thereabouts and see what that yields. You don't need
