SOME truck engines have a .400 taller deck height. I have not seen any tall
deck motors in light duty trucks. The 402 in my car is a std deck 71-71 truck
motor. Works just fine just not the original for the car. My 454 motor came
out of a late 80's dually pickup.

Truck engines generally have a taller deck. You can check by measuring the distance from where the water pump mounts to the top of the block or look at the left water pump mounting point and see if it is solid or not. The 402 is nothing more than a .030 over 396. Nothing wrong with that b

I replaced the floor in my 71 also with a 3 piece floor from Ausley's.
Although it fit pretty good and it sounds like Mark's was in worse shape
than mine was, I have to agree with every point Mark wrote.
One thing I did was painstakingly cut the old floor away from the existing

yep sounds like the same problem I have had. My old '68 GMC truck had the
problem as well as the Chevelle. Replaced the dimmer swith and it worked
fine. (actually with the truck I drove with the hi-beams on, just unplugged
them until I replaced the switch).

are for 64-72 and others have more year specific panels. Get the more
specific panels, it seem that there are a lot of variations in the panels.
