I remember a guy in high school who had a '55 Caddy hearse. He was a drummer in a rock band and it was his ride. I think, on a good day, he got around 9 miles to the gal mileage, but gas was 35 cents a gal so it wasn't a issue. His folks were well off anyway. He also drove a '65/'66 XKE Jaguar.
