Hi,
I'm trying to ugrade the MICA portware for an 8 port modem NM on a
3640, (I hate modemns:), and according to the docs it is as simple as
downloading the new portware into flash and reload. Upon reload the
router will recognize portware newer than the bundled portware and
upgrade the modems
Do you have access in the Lab to the Internetwork Design Guide section of
the Doc-CD see hyperlink below.
Any info appreciated.
Kind regards
Paul.

Dear All,
I have an OSPF query which has been causing me a headache,
I have two 2610 routers on the LAN
Router1 is joined to a large Frame relay network running OSPF.
Router2 is participating in the OSPF network but also has two ISDN links
to remote sites.
I have put in static routes to these
I think you have forgotten to configure the vurtual-template interface and
bind it to multilink. Here is a sample:

Hi all,
I need to log all TCP traffic from the inside interface of a PIX 515E (IOS
6.1) to the outside.
On a router it's an easy task, a log server and an extendent access list
like permit tcp any any log, but in PIX access-list the log command is no
allowed.
Any idea ?
I tried a workaround
Umar,
I THINK you need to first issue the snmp-server enable command and then
issue a separate snmp-server host command for each network management
server.

Well thru LMI you can get the CIR and if the CIR is above 56K you can
safely assume you have a T1 or a fractional T1 otherwise there is no way
I know of.

Here is the simplest way to accomplish that:
snmp-server enable traps
snmp-server host
snmp-server host
Examples:
snmp-server enable traps
snmp-server host 10.1.1.1
snmp-server host 20.1.1.1
or,
snmp-server enable traps
snmp-server host NMS_A.company.com
snmp-server host NMS_B.company.com

Actually, she does. Not too many know this, but she's in a band called
Priscilla and the A-Bombs. She plays bass. Her band opened for Motorhead
this summer. When can we expect a CD, Priscilla?? ;-)

Whether you can get the CIR via LMI depends on the LMI type you are using.
If you're using ANSI Annex D, it's not sent, and I know of no way of getting
the info from the router.

I'm confused on how to manage network devices. Under Server
Configuration, there is ANI server admin. I can discover all network
devices. But what does RME do? Are they the same thing? Do I have to
manually add each device to RME?

Use ANI to do the discovery, and then have it populate RME.
Server Configuration -- Setup -- ANI Server Admin -- Device
Synchronization
just send everything to RME.

In Catalyst 6509, IOS 12.1 shutting Interface VLAN 1 down should not create
any problems since the VLAN 1 itself will still be active. The question is
that the latest IOS version allows you to remove VLAN 1 from you trunk ports
which is fine as long as the Data and the Management VLAN is not 1.

Does it support IP GRE, 802.1p, .q, DiffServ ?
It will pass IEEE 802.1Q tagged frames. It cannot
