Does Gig Ethernet conform to the same minimum frame sizes as general
Ethernet ie 64 bytes. If so how does it accomodate late collisions when
running over distances of 2km or more.???
Or is this not relevant as it will be point to point full duplex and
effectively collision free?
I have done the CCDP and it was a waste of time.(do it if you need the
accreditation for your job )
but it will have no relevance to the CCIE. I suggest you get a good Lab book
and command summary and work your way through each lab implementing as many
scenarios as possible debugging the outcome.
What version of code is the Pix running? If 5.3 or higher you can use an ACL
appied inbound on the outside interface. This is much simpler than statics
and conduits. This is a standard ACL format so you can configure for address
ranges(if contigous)

Question guys,
I have received the following back from a ciso router that I
do not have control over. ICMP type 3 code 0xd.
hex d = decimal 13. This code value 13 doesn't exist. Is this due to an
inbound access-list? any ideas? Look at the packet debug below and let me
know you
Whenever reading about OSPF there seems to be a great deal of emphasis on
NBMA in a multipoint enviroment.
Why would you want to implement mulipoint when you could uses point to point
between remote offices connecting back to area0 ??

Michael I am a bit confused. If you have SNA still on the network (which most
big Corporates do) would you not be using Token Ring?
Can you run SNA over Ethernet using LLC2? why only LLC2 & not LLC1 or EV2 ??
Below you stated that LLC2 is diminishing because of the reliability of
higher protocols
In CRB. Concurrent Routing & Bridging can route a protocol on one group of

The traffic on each group of interfaces cannot be switched between groups

Yes you can. The DHCP requests will have to be routed via the MSFC or an
external router. As the DHCP requests are broadasts the router will not
forward these by default. You will have to set up a helper address on each
interface that a broadcast is received on specifying the destination unicast

MRTG like SNMP works on index numbers. Switches are a bit funny as to how
they allocate their index numbers. Routers are a bit easier ie. e0/0 would
normally be index number 1.
If you have the switch managed on an SNMP NMS you should be able to
view all the index numbers & associated inter
When configuring transparent bridging on a router , do you have to specify

My question is can you have just plain old transparent bridging

To all you Token Ring & SNA gurus out there. Do you have to enable spanning

as a bridge will not forward the frame over the same ring twice.
If so when is spanning tree required on a token ring SNA or netbios

It seem my earleir question either confused everyone or basically didn't
interest anyone.
To put it in a nutshell. This is what I need to find out.
Cisco state that a Synchronous Serial interface, eg. a WIC-1T will run up to
2.048 mbps
HOW can you get this line speed to a Synch serial interface ??

I diasagree,
I understood that the BPDU has it's own frame format ..the
frame format depends on what type of spanning tree is configured. There is no
concept of a SAP field.
