I am in a bind... After an extensive evaluation period of the Cisco 3030
concentrator, and a beta deployment of the client to a slew of non-technical
field users, I have found that the client does the following:

Adam,
At my company we are doing something similar... We did the following:
1. Setup the IAS service on our Win2k server
2. Setup authentication for radius on the VPN concentrator (using the
Windows 2k server's ip address)
3. Created an "internal" group on the concentrator.
Although the gro
I would have to agree with some of Roberts comments... There were some
questions that I just shook my head because of the lack of clarity. Some of
the diagrams in the exhibits were utterly useless, it may have been more
usefull to answer the questions without looking at them.

Group,
Though I rarely contribute, just wanted to say that after a long and more
round about approach than most, I finished the CCNP. I have to pretty much
internalize the satisfaction that I got from passing, because outside of

Michale,
I have dot1q trunks running across Cisco MDF switches and Nortel IDF
switches. We found that Cisco and Nortel run two different versions of
Spanning Tree, both of which are 802.1q compliant. The difference between
the two is that Cisco's portfast feature, and Nortel's faststart feat

All right, this is outright ridiculous...
Memo to Cisco:
I am never taking another Cisco beta exam
What a waste of time... Will feedback and good beta testers start to go
downhill because of the long wait? Something to think about.
Oh, BTW, don't say that the results will be available on a s
Group,
There has to be someone out there having the same problems with the Altiga
client that I have seen. I have found that the Altiga client only works
with a limited number of ISP's such as Mindspring, Earthlink, etc. However,

Group,
FYI, I called Sylvan to register for a test, and asked about the foundation.
They said that it was sold out in a record (for Cisco beta tests) 41
minutes. Also was mentioned that they had 70 people answering phones that
morning.

If you are running a Cisco shop, with VLAN's, I would suggest running DHCP
on the router itself. This has proven to be very effective for us... If you
need reservations I would suggest using a server. What I would do, is
create VLAN's for your upstairs and downstairs, and create a scope for e
One edge certified individuals have over their peers in the job field is

legal notice corrections in the newspaper, but ask any employer who he'd

The aironet device is slick. I like what I've used so far, we are deploying
it into all thousand of our remote sites. It is pretty expensive though,
and its supposed to move to 100 MB within 12 months, so the technology is
still fairly new, and prices reflect. The device is menu driven and e
Group,
Heres some scoop I found out from the Cisco Certification folks at
Networkers. They are currently developing a recertification process that
should be announced in Sept. From what I gathered, it doesn't matter if
you're a CCNP 2.0 or 1.0, you'll be required to recertify within a specif
The lab will be set up in a fashion where less emphasis will be placed on
configs (contrary to CCIE r/s) and more so on your design. The proctor will
test your design with a software program able to simulate various
applications, and a large volume of devices. So in essence, you can throw

First off congrats on the CCNP.
I would get the CCIE blueprint and find the areas that your weak on. You

Jose,
Pretty vague description... Are you on the same ethernet segment as the NT
server? More detail would help consolodate the problem. It could be a slew
of possibilities based on your description. Rephrase the question and I'd
be happy to reply.

The ARP cache should contain all MAC addresses for the port you have the hub
connected to. So for the sake of arguement, you have 6 workstations
connected to that hub, the switch should cache 7 MAC addresses, the 6
workstations and the hub.

You either have to do a Ctrl+q or a Ctrl+l as its booting up with a standard

down, then try the two hotkeys, I can't remember which one...
