What are the major
differences b/w EIGRP and OSPF aside from the fact that EIGRP is Cisco's

for starters one major diffrence
eigrp routes desktop protocols and ospf does not (ip only)
Why would one use EIGRP over OSPF and vice-versa?
I would use ospf in a network that involves many ,many route

The idea of using a tunnel for this scares the
heeby-jeebies out of me!!! I should have noted a
'supportable' network! ;) It is a clever idea however.

Ed, if you have a moment, can you answer a question. For the automatic
redistribution to take place, don't the two routing protocols, with the same
process i.d. have to be on the same router? Or will they do this when
adjacent? I did a quick l

AS/process? :->

When EIGRP and IGRP share the same AS, redistribution in automatic.
However, keep in mind that EIGRP will handle VLSM, and IGRP is a classful.
As I see it, EIGRP on the left advertises routes to IGRP in the middle, and
then it would advertise classful routes to EIGRP on the right. I believe

If I remember correct, AS numbers do not have to be contiguous unless if you want automatic redistributing between EIGRP and IGRP. If you have different AS across boundaries then you will need to have to manually redistribute...

I have an interesting question for the group, although
it is not directly related to any of the current
exams.
Does an EIGRP AS have to be contiguous or can it be on
two sides of an IGRP 'AS'. I note that the use of the
term AS is a mis-nomer for both protocols, but...
For example, does:
