Clamdscan uses the daemon to do the actual scanning.
The main benefit is startup time - it's a lot faster to use clamdscan
than clamscan if you're doing lots of individual scans (such as on a
mail gateway).

I suspect you've a problem with the your install however. ClamAV
0.86.2 on my FreeBSD box identifies the virus you're still providing
via the URL in your intial post. ClamWin 0.86.2 also identifies it.

incident forced us to upgrade clamav to the latest version, install GMP 4,
