URL, it hangs. If you disable threading (--disable-threads) it works again

tried to login from KDM, starting KDE stopped in the beginning with an

Just upgraded to kernel-2.4.17.18mdk-1-1mdk and I am trying to compile
bttv 0.8.34 (outside the kernel) and v4l2 (also outside the kernel)
and when compiled and installed (old bttv.o.gz and videodev.o.gz are
removed) depmod -ae complains of unresolved symbols:
