The Lua API does not, as far as I know, straightforwardly support random
access to a specific image by its ID or filename. Whenever I carry out any
mass-tagging operations of this sort, I have to use a SQLite script that
directly alters the 'tagged_images' table in the library database.
With the new version of Darktable, I believe they expanded the options
available in the light table's "sort by" combo box, so an existing
setting may have been disrupted.
Also, I believe the light table collections are always sorted by every
criterion in that list -- the one selected by the user i

cache setting I can tweak to restore the former behavior?

To avoid seeing these icons, avoid moving or deleting image files outside

The problem with using "discard" is that it wipes out the images' whole
previous history stacks (which I want), not just the unwanted parts added
by the paste.

As I understand it, film rolls in Darktable correspond directly to
filesystem directories, so if you want new names for the film rolls you
will need to rename the directories.

freshly created Darktable database, select the
"tag" option in the "collect images" panel, and watch Darktable spin its
