I got this collection of errors trying to install Debian 1.1 until I
changed my controller (Adaptec AHA 1542 A) which had firmware circa
1988. I suspect nobody else keeps superanuated hardware around as long
as I do, but it is worth thinking about if you hardware has any age on

I was able to install it but hat to remove the Radio mouse and the Wave
card..
The Wave card to get the NIC to work..

I actually just got a switch with a 100Mb port on it and I have a news
server that was going to go on the end of that for now, but I wasnt quite
sure how to get debian to recognize that fact. Checking ifconfig it still
says 10Mb, but i haven't really looked into it much yetto many other

I actually did this today... I replaced my old bnc/twisted pair SMC card
with a 10/100 Switchable SMC which has the 21040 DEC chipset on it (tulip
driver). We are using a 100 Mbit hub and have noticed a great deal speed
increase with it. It seems as if the only thing that slows me down are my

For free I don't know. May be Adobe sells a version for Linux. I downloaded

Just installed it myself, from what I remember there is no default config
file. You have to rename one of the installed config files to what
fvwm95-2 is looking for (forgot the name right now).

For the fonts, you need at least xfntbase, and xfnt75 is probably
necessary, too.
For the video modes, I think there is no problem. Xfree 3.3 seems to give
much more choice than before. look at your /etc/X11/XF86Config file.
Some modes are for low-end hardware, others for 21" (or 25") or bigger
