I tried to add the gnome_xml libs to debian.
Due to the fact that i couldnt find a .deb I compiled the package, did
make install which copied the said libs to /usr/local/libs.
I then added the directory to /etc/ld.so.conf (i hope i'm not getting
the file name wrong) and then ran ldconfig.
Then when
I just tried doing this, and ran into an interesting problem. I think that it
had to
do with copying /lib over, but when it finished untarring the new system, it
just gave
me a login prompt. I logged in, got the message of the day, told me I had no
mail,
and then gave me the login prompt. whe

Is there any way to do that? I've read ulimit(1), but that only
applies to bash(1) and it's sons (and it can also be changed). Another
option would be automatically nicing proceses that use more CPU time than
their quota.

For my new 8.4gb hard drive, I placed the Win95 partition at the front, and
Windows FDISK thinks there are 1023 cylinders. Linux knows about the full
4088 cylinders, via LOADLIN boot parm "HDA=4088,64,63".
Now both systems boot ok, and I don't have to use MaxBlast.

It is because on i386 machines the processor boots in real
mode, which is limited to the (in)famous 640Kb. The kernel
can be copied starting at address 0x1, which takes
the available space down to 576Kb, then I think there must
be 64Kb used at the other end, hence the 512Kb
as a pose to 640Kb

compatible mode that the pc BIOS set up. The cpu can only

configuration software, it always set to default resolution. If you are
satisfied with a certain configuration, you can copy the xf86config to

When you download the files from Netscape make sure you download the
glibc version. This is the 'unsupported' version. Then try again
(using the Debian installer).

You might have more success in keeping links if you translate the html
to ps with html2ps and then run GhostScript to get a pdf file. The
manual for this program says:
The PostScript code generated by html2ps contains calls to the pdfmark
operator, that are instructions to a PostScript-to-PDF conv
