Thanks for reporting this! I'm also forwarding this to the user mailing

I think the usability of the State Processor API in Scala is indeed
something that hasn’t been looked at closely yet.

Hi Dyana,
Regarding your question on the Chinese docs:
Since the Chinese counterparts for the Kinesis connector documentation
isn't translated yet (see docs/dev/connectors/kinesis.zh.md), for now you
can simply just sync whatever changes you made to the English doc to the
Chinese one as well.

+1 to start a VOTE for this FLIP.
Given the properties of this new state backend and that it will exist as a
new module without touching the original heap backend, I don't see a harm
in including this.
Regarding design of the feature, I've already mentioned my comments in the

Hi,

or not time-based releases is a suitable release model for us.
That doesn’t seem to be the original intent of this thread, and is
therefore more suited for a separate discussion with the community,

Hi,
I don't think there were any discussions recently in the community on
accessing Flink working / runtime state using SQL.
However, there were some other discussions for this on persisted state in
savepoints or checkpoints, mainly through the use of the recently merged
State Processor API [1].

Schema evolution for data types that are used as keys is not allowed
because, potentially, if the schema of the key changes, hash codes of keys
may also change and can break partitioning for internal state managed by

There are of course some evolution scenarios that would not
Hi Pengfei!
I've added you to the JIRA with contributor permissions.

@Piotr
Yes, we're aiming this for the 1.9 release. This was also mentioned in the
recent 1.9 feature discussion thread [1].

The name "Savepoint Connector" might indeed be not that good, as it doesn't
point out the fact that with the current design, all kinds of snapshots
(savepoint / full or incremental checkpoints) can be read.
@Paul
That would be a very valid requirement. Querying the list of existing

Hi Yu,
+1 to move forward with efforts to add this feature.
As mentioned in the document as well as some offline discussions, from my

formats for keyed state in savepoints, which would allow for more
operational flexibility such as swapping state backends across restores.
As part of this FLIP, another main proposal is to start allowing

Thanks for starting the discussion.
+1 to have a 1.8.1, given there are some critical bugs fixed already
(including regressions such as FLINK-12301).
I've also added https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLINK-11107 as a
potential blocker for 1.8.1.
Will make sure this gets merged
, whether or not the date sounds reasonable given the current status
of the ongoing efforts.
Please let me know what you think!
Cheers,
Gordon
