Hi,
There are still many things we want to do before an alpha release of NiFi
2.0. I'd not expect it before September at best.

Although compiling NiFi modules with a reference to the standalone Nashorn

Went through the release helper guide.
Connected to NiFi registry, imported and committed some flows.
Verified for regression:
- Azure ADLS and Blob_v12 related flows
- MQTT related flows
Noticed two issues:
- Sometimes `./bin/nifi.sh start --wait-for-init` incorrectly reports
The major issue for our deployments would be the removal of Nashorn as
well.
Would GraalVM or an alternative be considered as a part of an initial NiFi

I agree that moving forward with Java 17 as the minimum for NiFi 2.0 is the
best approach given the extended lifecycle of support for Java 17.
With the removal of a number of legacy components, the current main branch

We've discussed in the past having NiFi 2.0 move from Java 8 to Java 11 as

Nifi is a Java based application and so the underlying OS is irrelevant as
long as you're;
a) using a supported JVM version (8-17 LTS should be fine, I believe
release is built using 11)
b) reading the release notes of your JVM on your OS to comprehend any local
issues, which you can take up
I see NIFI-11392 has already been taken care of.
