If my suspects is correct, solution is push proximity executable
This is very confusing:
- the stock os has an application accessed by dialing *983*0# where among
others you can test/calibrate sensors, after calibrating the proximity sensor
it works as expected on stock OS but when upgrading to v1.2 that app is not
available anymore for mysterious reasons and
