You haven't mentioned which database you are using, but there is always
the option of switching to mySQL. See

You can get the XP Home Upgrade edition for around $100, the upgrade
from 98 should be as straightforward as sticking the disc in and
answering some questions. If you're feeling braver, take a backup, wipe
the disk and do a clean install.

It looks like Win98 scandisk has issues with large fat32 par
NTFS -> FAT32: no problem if files are not larger than 4 GByte.

I bought a new hard drive to back up my music files and also use on
another computer that is Windows 98. I converted my original external
hard drive (where my music files are now stored on a Windows XP macine)
to NTFS from FAT32. The new hard drive is FAT32, and I'm thinking I
want to keep that

I recently installed Slimserver 6.2.1 and Softsqueeze 2.2, but my
Softsqueeze displays the same line twice. Is this a known bug or is

I'd guess it's more likely to be earth related: the optical connection
provides electrical isolation between the SB and the DAC, whereas the
S/PDIF doesn't. You could try attaching an earth to the earth sleeve
on one of the SB phono outputs.

I think that's the problem -- the standard is null-terminated strings,
so if a program doesn't actually support them it may be impossible to

RandomPlay will let you choose the rock and/or the explicit genres. If
you choose rock, the first two tracks will play. If you choose
explicit, the last two will.
In other words, it's an "or" of the tags, which may

I noticed that tag issues keep cropping up again and again through
different versions of slimserver and I was wondering how slimserver

A developer has come up with an XM plug-in, but so far there is no
Sirius plug-in. I'd be willing to pay for such a program, and if
others are too, maybe we could entice the XM developer or someone else
to work on it. Post here if you'd be willing to kick in a nominal

I'm not sure how I can achieve this and I suspect it's not possible but
here goes anyway.
My Squeezeboxes are on random mix pretty much full time. That can give
me an issue if music with bad language is played at an inopportune time
such as when children or 'sensitive' people are in the house.

I've never heard of ungrant. To be honest, if you're not comfortable
with MySQL already, you may be better off using the supported solution
i.e. the sqllite db.
You don't need to specifically create the slimserver user. 'grant all
on slimserver.* to slimserver' implicitly creates the user calle

clicked a WMA file, I get a stop slimproto command. Also when I read
the HTTP stream, i get only zero bytes. Slimserver is not at all

firmware, not sure if its made it into Softsqueeze yet (you mention
version 2.2 which makes me think you mean Softsqueeze rather than
