Yup, 256MB is what I run in the ReadyNAS. Why the ReadyNAS? Well, I
like the idea of a self-contained unit running the music. I've already
made use of the RAID capabilities that it provides, so a simple 1 or 2
drive PC or server would not meet my need

The Transporter doesn't put out an appreciable amount of heat in idle.
Portions of the case will remain vaguely lukewarm I guess.
Heat is electronics' biggest enemy though, and smothering heat
radiation and convection is definitely something you should avoid doing
to a $2000 box.

I do not and will not take issue with any of your points. I have no
issue with you feeling left out because you didn't get a response.
What I do have issue with is the inference that it was due to "lack of
interest" as opposed to what you now state as "lack of response". That
is a
SoftSqueeze uses port 3483.
However you should be able to get a stream player to work if you can
load the webpage, because it uses port 9000, the same as the webpage.
SoftSqueeze is much better than a stream player though.

It's something to do with which account your Slimserver service is
logged in to. I think the default login is done before drives are
mapped. Sorry I can't remember any more but a search should find out
