John, if you like to make the combination of Music Label 2008 and
SlimServer to work as you like, it would probably require some
development work. It might be easy or it might be hard, it all depends
on how open Music Label 2008 is for third party development.
Some solutions that might work:

Oh I quite understand what you're trying to do, and I don't doubt that
it would be possible to integrate the two apps in that way. I just
don't think it's very likely to actually happen - it would be a lot of
work and to be honest it seems like a pretty niche requirement. The

Hi,
I received a Zune for Christmas last year and I like it fine for use in
my car and travel. I don't use marketplace (although I have $50 to
spend there), nor have I purchased any other online music yet. All my
current music is ripped CDs to WMA lossless then just convert to 128k
WMA for Zune
I agree that it would look a lot better if the display accurately
displayed and I would prefer that. My concern was whether the absence
of tags would prevent Slimserver from working at all.

Close, some CDs have CDTEXT data, usually track names. And recent CD
players can display it.
But in general, Mark is correct. The simple Album/artist/track title
information is not there.

I didn't get an answer from the Music Label forum. I really am curious
where the tag information should be coming from. Should it be on the CD
from which I have copied the music and saved it as a wma file or in some
other format? Should it come from Gracenote when I query that database

In the UK 2 x SB3 and a Nokia 800 style controller would now be around

$850 to $299 isn't quite apples-to-apples, I think you also need to
factor in an additional cost for the fancy remote (JHB-like?)on the SB3
side - so maybe it's $850 to $499? It is certainly evidence of evolution
in the market, anyway.

I had a Zune for a while (just wanted to try one out) and as a player
it's fine. Don't expect to get any of the store or subscription stuff

Back in the Slim Devices days, I always suspected Sonos was larger than
Slim - I had no idea why.
But now the tables have definitely turned. Logitech has much, much
deeper pockets than Sonos does and certainly has the R&D capability and
marketing dollars to crush Sonos. Sonos is now the bit pla
You can now get a $99 "ZoneBridge", which is basically the wireless mesh
access point; add a ZonePlayer 80 at your stereo ($349), and the fancy

I already had IR Blaster disabled (not checked) before the problem
occurred. I just tried removing the IR Blaster directory completely and
that DID fix the problem.
Apparently IR Blaster is responding in a bad way (even when disabled)
to some combination of CLI volume change commands.

I also find that using a static ip makes my SB connect slightly faster
than with dhcp. Not that the boot up time really bothers me anyway. It
is also "an automatic procedure" for me (no button presses), but I only
have one server with a static ip.
