mplayer will play a CD and I think CD playing works across all platforms. Using mplayer with SC has been proven with AlienBBC. I know mplayer can be told to play a selected track - I'm not sure whether it will play a whole CD. All that is needed is a small plugins that defines a protocol

Hi Frank, Well been delving on my Linux server and found as already pointed out by Fletch that only local connections are enabled. This should be dead easy to change as it is only a setting in the my.cnf file to alter the bind address from the current 127.0.0.1 to whatever your servers ip is.

Agreed with Fletch - your problem is almost certainly with the Denon, the SB always outputs on optical, coax and analog all the time. You need to decide which input you want to map the SB to - eg CD: then go to the input mapping menu and tell the Denon that the CD input is coming in to coax 2 or
