X is a
cross-platform (Windows, Linux, Solaris, etc.) command line utility that
can convert various formats of computer audio files in to other formats.
It can also apply various effects to these sound files, and, as an added
bonus, SoX can play and record audio files on many
r non-open proprietary lossless
format. BTW, this is exactly what the marketing guys at Apple want,
people choosing only Apple stuff because it plays so badly with other
devices. Do a few tests:
- Try a wired connection.
- Convert one of your files to flac and see if it stil
local tracks as my alarm. When SqueezeCenter dies I'll probably
oversleep again ;)

So the
inventors apparently hadn't noticed that their CD was aimed at the
cassette. Sure, the CD was much more portable than the LP, but it
wouldn't be recordable for a long time, which is rather important for
some people ;)
