You select the genres to include, then click either 'save' at the
bottom, which makes it stick after restarts. Or you can click 'play
random songs' at the top and it will play only the genres selected, but
go back to the last saved config after restart.

Going to 6.5.1 fixed this problem for me.
The other problem you are having (numeric value instead of genre
string) .I had the same problem a few versions ago. The
problem ended up being that my system had a mixture of new/old
templates, left overs from previous installs I clean insta

that it is fixed in the nightly builds since then but I have never
installed a nightly build and am reluctant to start now especially
since I'm having other problems with the random mix page.

I have a fairly new system AMD 3000 64bit processor with1.5 gig ram.
Usually, the only programs running are Slimserver,Firefox, and
Thunderbird.
I unchecked, saved, and rechecked, saved the add new items when old
ones finished and changed the song number to 10.
It is now working correctly.

_before_ the beginning - you have to rewind from zero to hear it. I'd

Put them in your Zapped Songs playlist.
When in Now Playing, press and hold ADD.
Doing this will remove the song from the playlist but it won't delete
it. When you want to edit, go to Browse Playlists to see the Zapped
Songs.

Those hidden tracks are annoying! It's amazing how artists still think
they're being cute with those things.
The only way I found to address those is to edit the file itself with
an audio editing program. I use 'Goldwave' (http://www.goldwave.com/),
it's very effective. It has an "Autotrim" featu

so if a program doesn't actually support them it may be impossible to

Tristate would be one way. If not, I know I'd much prefer the
alternative behavior, that of explicitly excluding those genres that

the playlist via CLI, it doesnt seem to stop it..

No, you can't do that, I'm afraid. The closest is to go into Browse
Music->New Music, add your new albums and then shuffle the playlist.

bottom of the random mix web page to stop it continuously adding new

this. By default, Random Mix will select ten songs from your library
(as filtered by the genre filter) and either add them to the end of
your playlist, or replace your playlist with them, depending on whether

people would have the UI's refresh rate set to the default 30seconds.
Mine is set to 3 minutes. I can live with the UI perhaps not sho
My first question would be, how many tracks have you got in your music
library?
My system is a 2.4Ghz P4 with 512mb of RAM on XP and I have never
experienced the issue your seeing with a library of 7000 tracks.
I have Random Mix set to display that last 10 songs played and the
upcoming 10.
