Since the stream already exists - it is a case of describing the current
format and then advice can be given.
If you're not sure how to describe then play it with mplayer with "-v"
verbose and copy the output to a post. It will give all the header and
mime and other stream format info necessary

Using that old SB3 would be my first choice. Should work fine for many

IIRC Pandora requires a hardware players as that was part of the deal
with Slimdevices/Logitech - I think this is checked using mac address.

has an audio Chromecast, so I can take a laptop over to his house and
see what happens with LMS before having my other friend buy the
hardware. Yeah, it's cheap, but it'll let me know if the choice involves

Wavinput plugin is the usual response, assuming your LMS server has an
audio input you can get to (or plug a chromecast into).

This has been discussed in the BBC iPlayer plugin threads. It is DNS
related. Due to the way HLS works it sends many chunks of data in
sequence.
Because HLS support is a hack in Triode's iPlayer each chunk of data
requires a new DNS lookup. If you look through (or search) the threads

It might be worth a shot, but why not reset the router and reboot the
modem sometime.
You could also ask the ISP if there is a firmware upgrade available
(presuming the kit is their issue).

Yes, never had any errors with local streaming. And I'm using Devolo
Homeplug, not wireless. Network Diagnostics does show the ISP traffic
light turn from green to red sometimes, and then back to green in a
short or long time (never any need to reboot router/modem).
