I recently acquired a very nice TR7 and found it completely dead. I checked the usual suspects (PIN diodes in the TR switch) but nothing amiss there. More poking around and it looks like the power supply line may be shorted. My Service Manual shows a diode CR1 across the + 12 volt line

It's looking like I may have TR switch problems (diode has the same resistance either direction. This is the high power PIN diode in the TR switch. Does anyone know of a current source for the UM 9400 (or MA4P1200) PIN diodes in the TR Switch? Are there any substitutes for these diodes?

I am curious too - if I am interfacing an FS-4 to an R4B (or even a C or an SPR-4) which pin on the crystal socket do I plug into? The manual does indicate there is a difference between either pin on the crystal socket - just plug it in and ground the outer shield. Thanks Steve KD2ED
